Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking a Technical Program Manager who is a highly organized, passionate individual with excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. This position will split their time between our Design and Test facilities in Santa Cruz (HQ) and San Carlos. This role will operate in a fast paced, demanding, and rewarding environment with very high expectations for individual contribution.
Your primary responsibilities will include coordination and delivery of development and certification test articles, along with development of test asset management systems. Working with various engineering teams at Joby Aviation (including design, manufacturing, certification and more), the Technical Program Manager will develop and execute appropriate strategies and tactics that allow the company to achieve milestones on schedule and meet quality and financial requirements.
Responsibilities
Own tracking and delivery of test articles in support of development testing and certification testing at the equipment, subsystem, and system level
Develop best practices for test article definition and documentation, and support design release of test article drawings
Work with factory systems team to develop automated test asset management tools that capture an articles test history and test data
Work closely with Testing, Design, Certification, and Manufacturing teams, as well as with other supporting functions to align test article configuration, track material readiness, prioritize and coordinate test article assembly for hardware, including, but not limited to electric propulsion, propeller, battery pack, environmental control systems, etc.
Collaborate with other Program Managers and integrated project teams to ensure convergence of company-level efforts to achieve key project and program milestones
Create, maintain, communicate, and present schedules to multiple audiences, from individual contributors to executives
Develop tools to facilitate the various reporting or planning functions described above
Required
Bachelor’s in engineering or relevant fields
4+ years of experience in an engineering environment with responsibility for implementing or managing change
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated experience in the simultaneous management of multiple high-paced engineering projects
Demonstrated understanding of the product development cycle for hardware-centric projects from early design through to completion and launch
Experience in project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Confluence, and JIRA
Proficient in common workplace software (word processor, spreadsheet, presentation software, etc.)
Desired
Experience with aerospace projects and FAA certification process is desired, but not required
Experience working with high voltage electromechanical hardware (battery systems, electric motors, power inverters, etc.)
Additional Information
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $88,100 - $144,500. The compensation package offered will be determined by location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Joby also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.
