We have the patience, creativity, and capital to take a long-term view of the evolution of US energy markets. We are investing in the large-scale projects needed to advance the energy transition.

About the Role

Supporting our Project Delivery team, the Technical Project Manager will provide technical support of wind, solar, and BESS projects during mid to late-stage development. You will collaborate with internal support roles and lead external consultants to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Lead the review and approval process of all phases of project engineering designs, including civil, structural, collection, substation, transmission, and SCADA design.

  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the Owner's Engineer (OE), EPCs, and equipment suppliers. The Technical Project Manager will serve as the primary technical liaison between these third parties and project team.

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, design improvements/optimization, or schedule efficiency in early stages of project design and throughout project construction.

  • Track technical changes, design status, and risks for each project. Work with project managers to provide updates to leadership that clearly identify progress, potential risks, and any financial or timeline changes.

  • Develop technical specifications and project requirements that inform EPC scope of work, equipment selection, and operations and maintenance plans. Requirements will be based on industry standards, interconnection/utility requirements, permit requirements and any local codes/standards

  • Inform and audit supplier scopes of work, exclusions, and engineering documentation provided throughout all stages of supplier contracting.

  • Support pre-construction site visits with contractors and equipment suppliers.

  • Assist team with interconnection process by providing generator inputs required for interconnection modeling, reviewing grid and electrical studies, and ensure project compliance to grid/utility requirements.

  • Partner with the Development Engineering Manager to support any technical studies performed at early-stage projects and transition project ownership when project delivery stage gate is achieved.

  • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to quickly address project challenges

  • Priorities and responsibilities may change as the company matures and your skill sets expand.

The energy transition is accelerating, broadening, and deepening. But bottlenecks remain. High-quality development projects, advanced by management teams with the experience and capital necessary to deliver investable infrastructure at scale remain a scarce resource in many global markets. Nova Clean Energy and its parent company Bluestar Energy Capital are focused on addressing this scarcity. Through a combination of establishing our own regional development platforms as well as controlling investments in existing platforms, our mission is to be one of the largest investors of project development capital globally. Owned by a management team with an extensive global track record in wind, solar, and storage, we bring both institutional scale and an owner’s attention to detail to managing project and market risk. We are patient, creative, and invest at the scale needed to drive the energy transition.
