Job Description
Job Purpose:
The successful applicants will be given a full well rounded understanding of the Composites/Aerospace Manufacturing process and during this 3½ year apprenticeship, you will learn that a skilled machinists creates precision parts which are then used on a daily basis, across the world, in almost everything you see. As well as learning the fundamentals of engineering theory and manufacturing processes, you will gain experience in using the latest computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools to cut, drill and finish components
This apprenticeship will include on block period of study with the
Cheshire college & Southwest before moving to on-the-job training at our site in Bromborough.
Future Prosects of this Apprenticeship:
Gain a recognised & respected industry qualification. This will be essential to career progression & can be used to access further education & development opportunities
Develop skills specific to the Composites/Aerospace industry, which can be practiced and applied straight away
Access to valuable work experience
Limitless opportunities – Composites are used and are developing in many different engineering industries. The skills learnt of this Machining Apprenticeship can be transferred to any industry
Earn while you are training, salary can be built on with increased responsibility as skills are developed.
Training will include:
Producing components using hand fitting techniques
Manual techniques (turning and milling)
Preparing and using lathes for turning operations
Preparing and proving CNC machine tool programs
Preparing and using CNC machines (turning and milling).

Qualifications Required:
Four GCSE’s at grades C/4 or above; in Maths and English Language
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme
