Working within a dedicated team of engineers and support team, you will investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues, replicate and analyse problems, and support software upgrades and deployments. You will take a proactive approach to identifying potential issues before they escalate and contribute to ongoing improvements across our platforms.Sensus provides the opportunity to contribute to a market-leading organisation at the forefront of smart utility innovation.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Provide 2nd/3rd line support for both open-source and bespoke software stacks across Linux, Windows and Android.</li><li>Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues, coordinating with development teams as needed.</li><li>Support software upgrades, including patch testing and deployment for in-house and customer systems.</li><li>Proactively monitor application health and performance to maintain system stability.</li><li>Collaborate with support teams to ensure effective issue resolution and knowledge sharing.</li><li>Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain technical documentation/knowledge-base articles, where necessary.</li></ul>Qualifications &amp; SkillsRequired:<ul><li>Proven experience in application support, systems administration, or a related technical support/DevOps role.</li><li>Strong Linux fundamentals, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)</li><li>Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities and high attention to detail.</li><li>Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and/or MariaDB (including writing and optimising queries)</li><li>Good understanding of core networking protocols (DNS, FTP, HTTP, SSH etc.)</li><li>Familiarity with digital certificates, PKI fundamentals and security principles.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>A collaborative team member who adapts quickly, embraces new challenges, and is eager to learn and expand technical skills.</li></ul>Preferred:<ul><li>Experience with Java application stacks.</li><li>Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or Subversion.</li><li>Knowledge of AWS and Terraform.</li><li>Experience with scripting languages such as Bash or Python.</li><li>Hands-on experience with VMware, Ansible, Docker, or Kubernetes.</li><li>Understanding of the OSI model and broader networking standards.</li><li>Knowledge of ITIL or service-management best practices</li><li>Full clean UK driving licence</li></ul>Join the global Xylem team to be a part of innovative technology solutions transforming water usage, conservation, and re-use.
