Join our growing team!This position is a hybrid role (3x per week onsite) that will be based at our headquarters in Fremont, California contract to hire.NEXTracker seeks a creative Mechanical Design Engineer for a position on the mechanical structures team. This engineer will be responsible for designing components for the flagship NEXTracker Horizon tracker to support a wider range of environments, more difficult site conditions, and cost reduction.Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:<ul><li>Contribute to the product design and development of NEXTracker horizontal tracking systems</li><li>Perform and manage engineering work using CAD / FEA software to solve problems in mechanical / structural design, finite element analysis, design optimization, tolerance stack-ups, prototype generation, fatigue analysis, and production of manufacturing drawings</li><li>Develop testing fixtures that accurately simulate real-world scenarios</li><li>Participate in brainstorming sessions with the mechanical engineering team to identify concepts and designs for future improvements</li><li>Problem solve time sensitive manufacturing and production issues gating product launches and ramps</li><li>Assist on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of issues discovered during pilot testing</li></ul>Here is some of what you’ll need (required):<ul><li>B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred)</li><li>3+ years of relevant experience</li><li>Toolsets required: SolidWorks, ePDM,  FEA (ANSYS preferred)</li><li>Knowledge/experience with drawings, model and tolerance standards and application</li><li>Understanding of DFM for castings and sheet metal stampings</li><li>Experience in mass production manufacturing</li><li>Aptitude and intuition in mechanical failure analysis</li><li>Practical knowledge of prototyping manufacturing process</li><li>Must possess solid written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Self-motivated team player</li><li>Willingness to occasionally travel and work at client sites both domestically and internationally</li></ul>Here are a few of our preferred experiences:<ul><li>Experience with Solar or renewable energy</li><li>Confluence, Arena, Miro (Real Time board), Jira</li></ul>Base Salary Applicable to California: $125,000 - $165,000Why Join Nextracker: 🚀 Innovative Environment: Be part of a team that's at the forefront of revolutionizing solar energy technology.
