About the Job
Mitra Chem is developing and scaling-up manufacturing of battery cathode materials for markets spanning electric vehicles, storage systems and other applications critical for energy and national security. Mitra Chem’s has a 3 pronged thesis:
Focus on iron-rich cathodes - industrialize LFP
Scale - build manufacturing capacity and supply-chain with reduced reliance on China
Speed - Accelerate development via an in-house built AI-accelerated software platform and accelerate industrialization by leveraging partnerships across the value chain.
We recently were awarded >$125M in grants from the U.S. Department of Energy and the State of Michigan to develop our first domestic manufacturing asset. With teams located in our Mountain View HQ as well as offices in Asia and the USA, Mitra Chem is constantly looking for motivated team members across a variety of functions. Join our team and be part of the growing battery revolution.
We are looking for a Software Engineer to help architect, design, and implement Mitra Chem’s software infrastructure and data pipelines. A few highlights of the role:
Mission: Enable the energy transition by accelerating new material development for mass market EV batteries.
Ownership: Make key software design decisions as we develop and scale our infrastructure and be responsible for architecting powerful, cost efficient, and secure solutions.
Agility: Work at the crossroads of data science, chemistry, and manufacturing - building software that bridges the gap and empowers collaborative innovation.
Impact: Drive rapid decision making and continuously accelerate product development timelines by integrating data from a variety of hardware and software tools.
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain a software infrastructure powered by state-of-the-art software tools and solutions that will serve as the driving force behind accelerated experimentation in our Mountain View, CA research lab and modern manufacturing in a factory being built in Michigan.
Automate data ingestion and analysis using cloud computing, SQL databases, and Python microservices.
Develop data pipelines and storage systems in support of proprietary, industry-disrupting data science and machine learning efforts.
Work closely with materials scientists and data scientists to identify R&D and manufacturing bottlenecks so we can develop new software tools and features.
Develop data visualization platforms to allow streamlined data access and interpretation.
Write documentation and train and support users on tool and infrastructure usage.
Stay up to date with and leverage advances in AI to build a modern software ecosystem.
Qualifications:
Software Engineer | 3+ years of experience
Strong knowledge of AWS, Git, SQL and familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform.
Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Airflow, Argo etc.
Experience with and/or a willingness to write software in Python.
Familiarity with event based data processing and serverless computing.
Experience with hardware programming and automation (e.g. data acquisition from and control of scientific / manufacturing instruments) is a plus.
Self-motivated and willing to work in a small team environment.
Benefits:
Competitive compensation package including company equity
Comprehensive benefits including health, vision and dental insurance, Tax-free spending accounts, along with life and disability insurances
401k matching and savings programs
