We invest in our people for the long term and are committed to supporting their development at every stage of their career.The Legal Entity Controller (“LEC”) for Apollo Global Management (“AGM”) will be responsible for entity and department level accounting, including but not limited to strategic investments, journal entries, and monthly analytics to ensure accurate revenue, expense, balance sheet, and regulatory and statutory reporting for the management companies/advisory entities within AGM. This role will support the LEC team on all reporting and recognition around the Asset Manager’s revenues including management fees, investment income, transaction and advisory fees, and other fee streams for GAAP and Non GAAP reporting for monthly and quarterly closes.Primary Responsibilities<ul><li>Ensure proper accounting treatment is applied to all management companies /advisory entity transactions and balances, including management fees, carried interest, equity method investments and other related transactions.</li><li>Oversight and review of the monthly and quarter-end accounting close processes for the LEC team including quarterly reporting deliverables</li><li>Coordinate with Deal Professionals, Accounting Policy, Senior Management, and other teams across Apollo on strategic investments/complex accounting structures to ensure proper accounting treatment and reporting.</li><li>Manage and administer a controlled and fluid iLevel reporting platform with strategic partners.</li><li>Manage and coordinate on the GAAP and Non-GAAP reporting requirements related to revenue and expense recognition </li><li>Continue to advance and improve workflows surrounding monthly and quarterly close process with a focus on automating and streamlining processes.</li><li>Review work of junior members of the team including journal entries, cash movements and monthly/quarterly closing work papers</li><li>Lead the quarterly pending deal process ensuring appropriate allocations across Apollo funds.</li><li>Assist with quarterly internal and external reporting, which includes earnings release, 10-Q/K and related disclosures, as well as Marketing and Investor Relations materials.</li><li>Continue to advance and improve workflow surrounding GAAP to Non-GAAP reconciliation and FRE exclusion with a focus on automating and streamlining processes.</li><li>Facilitate the communication and decision makings with Finance Compensation, and Strategic Incentive team on Strategic Investing related Compensation and Expenses across the AGM platforms to ensure complete and accurate recording, documentation, and financial statement disclosure.</li><li>Coordinate with Tax, Strategic Incentive, and Accounts Payable Team on tax related accounting and disclosure requirements on strategic investments.</li><li>Maintain a strong SOX controls environment and ensure proper documentation of our SOX control processes.</li><li>Coordinate with Corporate &amp; Finance Tech team on the development and maintenance of core systems including Fund Firm Handoff, OneStream and other Strategic Tech initiatives.</li><li>Review detailed Balance Sheet and Income Statement variance and fluctuation analysis in connection with monthly, quarterly, and annual internal reporting presentations.</li><li>Review filings and direct audit of statutory Financial Statements.</li><li>Review ad hoc analysis and special projects prepared by the team for requests from Senior Management.</li></ul>Qualifications &amp; Experience<ul><li>Strong U.S. GAAP accounting expertise (CPA or CA preferred).</li><li>8-10 years of professional work experience (prior experience in Big 4 or a mix of Big 4/Private preferred), preferably in the Investment management/financial services industry.</li><li>Strong Financial Reporting background preferred, specifically with a background in a controllership/management company accounting with an emphasis on technical accounting</li><li>Must have experience in leading a team and the ability to report upward confidently and succinctly</li><li>Highly organized, strong work ethic, and can work independently in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.</li><li>Capable of taking a process/task and “run with it” to conclusion is a critical characteristic of this role.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills as individual will collaborate with various internal departments (i.e., Fund Controllers, Accounting Policy, Portfolio Company, Deal Professionals, etc.).</li></ul>OUR PURPOSE AND CORE VALUESOur clients rely on our investment acumen to help secure their future.
