We hope that you'll be interested in joining us!<h2>The role</h2>As part of this work, you will:<ul style=""><li>Build, maintain, and expand the datasets used for sustainability impact assessment across global value chains.</li><li>Design and implement data models and schemas that ensure consistency, integrity, and clear semantics across heterogeneous data sources.</li><li>Develop and operate data pipelines to efficiently ingest, transform, and harmonize external datasets into well-structured, production-grade data assets.</li><li>Implement robust validation, quality checks, and monitoring processes to ensure reliability and correctness of data over time.</li><li>Build abstractions, tooling, and processes that empower data scientists and analysts to develop and test new pipelines safely and efficiently.</li><li>Partner with product and engineering teams to make sustainability data available in ways that serve a variety of customer outcomes.</li></ul>You might be a fit if you:<ul style=""><li>Have 6+ years of industry experience in data engineering or software engineering with a strong focus on data systems.</li><li>Are fluent in Python and SQL, and have experience with data pipelining and transformation frameworks. Typescript is a plus!</li><li>Have experience modeling and harmonizing data from diverse, messy, or inconsistent sources into structured, reliable datasets.</li><li>Care about engineering craft: writing well-tested, maintainable code and building abstractions that scale.</li><li>Are comfortable building data platforms and tooling that will be used by other engineers, scientists, and analysts.</li><li>Communicate complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical collaborators.</li><li>Thrive in environments that combine systematic organization with attention to detail, ensuring data correctness while moving quickly.</li><li>Are motivated by solving sustainability challenges and excited to do so at a fast-paced startup.</li></ul> Must be willing to work from an office 4 days per week (except for remote roles)Watershed has hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, and Mexico City and satellite offices in Sydney, Paris, and Berlin.
