The position requires a blend of software, electrical, and battery knowledge and a willingness to explore new ideas and technologies to bring increased performance, reliability and ensure safety standards are met or exceeded. This person will work closely with our electrical hardware engineers and ground support equipment engineering team to create and integrate a complete charging system for our aircraft.</span></div><br><br><h3>How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:</h3><ul><li>This position is primarily a software role with required ability to understand and troubleshoot hardware. Hardware design skills (from scratch) are a plus, but not required.</li><li>Become familiar with existing software and hardware for the on-aircraft charging system. Provide support and improvements for existing hardware and software on aircraft.</li><li>Write system level, software, and hardware requirements for certification-intent aircraft charge controller</li><li>Lead development of new and improved software and implementation/testing on the hardware and in the aircraft.</li><li>Support debugging and testing of hardware and software in a certification environment</li><li>Work with the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) team to provide a seamless charging experience across BETA’s platforms and with 3rd party EVSEs</li><li>Interface with BETA’s supplier partners in charging</li></ul><h3>Minimum Qualifications:</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, computer science, embedded systems, or related fields.</li><li>Experience and understanding of electrical fundamentals, switching power supplies, electrical isolation/insulation strategies.</li><li>Ability to operate lab equipment including low and high-voltage power supplies, function generators, oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering irons, etc</li><li>Programming skills in C, C++, and Python</li><li>Experience with software development and debugging for embedded systems</li><li>Experience with version control systems (git, SVN, etc.)</li></ul><h3>Above and Beyond Qualifications:</h3><ul><li>Master’s degree or equivalent experience</li><li>Experience with EV charging standards:</li><li>Experience with powerline communications using HomePlug GreenPhy or similar signal-over-power methods like Power over Ethernet</li><li>Experience with bare-metal embedded systems</li><li>Experience with software development for Linux-based embedded systems</li><li>Experience with CMake-based build environments</li><li>Experience with schematic capture and printed circuit board layout.
