The R&amp;D chemical engineering team has three main functions that leverage all the fields of chemical and metallurgical processing: Provide sound technical support and continuously improve our commercial operations; Develop new processes and plants to address the immediate challenges of the recycling industry; Research and development to address the future challenges of recycling industry.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities Will Include:</strong></p><ul><li>Leading and participating in research and development to meet strategic objectives in the fields of hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, electrochemistry and minerals processing</li><li>Identifying and driving R&amp;D to meet the short term needs of the business and address future trends in the recycling industry</li><li>Linking R&amp;D with the development and optimization of commercial scale equipment and processes</li><li>Leading and participating in cross-functional teams to develop and implement new process concepts, plants, and equipment</li><li>Flowsheet conceptualization and development</li><li>Working closely with R&amp;D development technicians to ensure that laboratory operations are safe, efficient, sustainable, and continuously improving</li><li>Support laboratory, pilot and commercial scale plant implementation and installation assistance</li><li>Support laboratory, pilot and commercial scale commissioning and ramp-up</li></ul><p><strong>Desired Qualifications:</strong></p><p><br>•    M.S. / PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline with 2+ years of experience in hydrometallurgical, pyrometallurgical, or electrochemical processes<br>•    Hands on lab experience assembling test apparatuses and executing metallurgical or chemical experiments<br>•    Track record of solving difficult chemical and metallurgical processing problems<br>•    Track record of solving difficult chemical and metallurgical processing problems<br>•    Experience scoping and generating experimental test plans for developing metallurgical or chemical processes<br>•    Background in Design of Experiments and using statistical methods for interpretation of test data<br>•    Process modelling (HSCSIM, SysCAD, METSIM) linking testwork and pilot plant operation to real project implementation<br>•    Understanding of material characterization methods such as XRD, XRF, ICP-OES/MS, SEM, PSA, TGA, GC, etc.<br>•    Experience with high temperature processes and thermal processing equipment (kilns, smelters, off gas treatment systems, etc.) is an asset</p><p> </p><p><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to safely perform job duties in both office and production environments</li><li>Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed</li><li>Must maintain regular and punctual attendance in alignment with company and regulatory standards</li><li>Must be able to communicate clearly</li></ul><p><strong>Working Conditions:</strong></p><ul><li>Split work environment between office and the production facility</li><li>Work may involve extended periods of working in the production facility</li><li>Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time</li><li>May require occasional work weekends or alternate shifts to support production needs</li></ul><p> </p><p> </p><div><p><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:helvetica , arial , sans-serif;">The position is full-time.
