The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV) is the design and construction contractor for ACEREZ.<br><br>The Central-West Orana Transmission Project will provide new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity.<br><br><b>Location</b><br><br>The successful candidate will require someone to be based in Sydney and work in our Sydney offices full time, Monday to Friday.<br><br><b>About the Role</b></p><p>Our Central-West Orana project is currently seeking dedicated Electrical Design Engineers to share their expertise within our growing Substation team. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, procurement, construction, and quality assurance, to ensure that all aspects of the project are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.</p><ul><li>The main function of the role is to design the substation primary engineering for electrical substation projects up to a voltage of 500kV</li><li>Identify all relevant standards and local Customer requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant National / International Standards and contract specifications</li><li>Understand how the various considerations and constraints effect the design and develop different solutions as part of the design optimisation process</li><li>Coordination of interference checker and its resolution - Ensure clash free design based on the definition of clash checks defined by each discipline for internal review steps</li><li>Prepare substation design calculations e.g. earthing design, busbar sizing, SC force calculations, lightning protection, Battery Sizing, cable sizing, cable schedules, circuit breaker selection, bus, fittings, insulator, transformer sizing and arrector selection</li><li>Define the primary design subsystems and bills of material, to a level where the design can be accurately costed</li><li>Ensure the designs, are safe and adhere to the required electrical clearances while providing the necessary provision for maintenance during the life of the installation</li><li>Directly responsible substation outdoor physical design for the general substation arrangement and layout, plan and elevation drawings, transformer/reactor’s yards design and layouts for high voltage bus, cable, high voltage equipment, conduit, cable, and wiring, grounding, and control buildings to satisfy the electrical transmission requirements</li><li>Writing high voltage equipment specifications and issuance of material purchase request forms, and vendor technical evaluation for substation equipment including high voltage circuit breakers, switchgear, disconnects, Earth switches, HV &amp; MV Power transformers, MV &amp; LV cables, DC System, Harmonic Filters, Synchronous condensers, Shunt Reactors, Auxiliary transformers, RMU, Earthing materials etc</li><li>Interface with other discipline e.g. Civils, Protection, cables and OHL</li><li>Review of Power system modelling, short circuit study, Load flow reports etc</li><li>Scrutiny of various manufacturer Technical documents/drawings/calculations and accord approvals from clients during detailed engineering phase</li></ul><p></p><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p style="text-align:inherit;"></p><p style="text-align:left;"><b>Required Skills and Competencies</b></p></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or a related field</li><li>3+ years of relevant experience in Foundations, ideally in Substations</li><li>Problem solving / analytical skills</li><li>Geotechnical Interpretation</li><li>Should have good knowledge of latest local standards &amp; IEC/IEEE/ANSI standards</li><li>Good knowledge and understanding of layout and primary equipment for substation projects up to 500kV</li><li>Proficient with various software tools, such as AutoCAD , ETAP , etc</li></ul><p></p><p><b>We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
