Job Description:Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Power Systems Regulatory Engineer to support the deployment and grid-integration of large-scale PV and Energy Storage systems.  This role requires expertise with interconnection and regulatory processes governing PV systems, Energy Storage Systems, Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and inverter based resources (IBRs), including requirements defined by Independent System Operators (ISOs), Regional Transmission Operators (RTOs), and federal level regulations as defined by FERC, NERC, PURPA, etc.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Track evolving federal, state, and ISO/RTO regulatory developments impacting PV and storage interconnection.</li><li>Develop internal guidance on interconnection and regulatory best practices across multiple ISOs/RTOs.</li><li>Translate ISO/RTO study requirements (system impact, deliverability, cluster studies) into technical guidance for product and project development.</li><li>Interpret interconnection standards, tariffs, and interconnection agreements for inverter-based resources (IBRs).</li><li>Analyze and advise on compliance with grid codes (e.g., ride-through, frequency/voltage response, VAR support).</li><li>Help direct modeling and validation of inverter-based PV and storage systems per Federal and RTO/ISO requirements </li><li>Represent the company in stakeholder processes (e.g., FERC rulemakings, ISO working groups, utility technical conferences).</li><li>Develop internal regulatory briefs and provide technical input to advocacy efforts.</li><li>Collaborate with project engineering, development, and permitting teams to align system design with regulatory requirements.</li><li>Support contractual negotiations with utilities and ISOs/RTOs by providing regulatory and technical insights.</li><li>Contribute to industry forums, standards committees, and working groups to shape emerging IBR regulations.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field.</li><li>Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience and 10 years of experience with utility scale generation, in particular transmission connected PV,  energy storage, and/or other IBRs, and DER.</li><li>In-depth knowledge of ISO/RTO interconnection processes (PJM, MISO, CAISO, ERCOT, etc.).</li><li>Experience with FERC regulations, NERC reliability standards, PURPA, and their application. </li><li>Familiarity with grid modeling tools for interconnection and stability studies.</li><li>Familiarity with interconnection standards: IEEE 1547, IEEE 2030, IEEE 2800, etc.</li><li>Strong ability to interpret and communicate regulatory/technical requirements to cross-functional teams.</li><li>Experience preparing regulatory filings, compliance documentation, and technical reports.</li><li>Demonstrated success engaging with ISOs, utilities, or regulatory agencies.</li><li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.</li></ul>Nextracker offers a comprehensive benefits package.
