We partner with them to anticipate and respond to evolving business needs with innovation in sensing and communications technologies, data analytics and services.Brief Description/Job Summary: Application EngineerGCC Vadodara/Chennai Campus seeks to hire an application engineer who can contribute to the growth of Xylem's India Technology Center and its expansion into disruptive technology and business solutions. The position involves playing a key role in advancing Xylem water treatment technology capabilities. The Application Engineer will focus on mechanical equipment and product-based solutions such as clarifiers, intake screens, dewatering presses, and auxiliary systems, with responsibility for accurate technical design, costing, and proposal preparation. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration with sales, vendors, and project teams, serving as a key contributor to project acquisition and execution while building expertise to grow into a senior proposal or SME leadership role.Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities: <ul><li>Provide pre- and post-bid application engineering support, including equipment sizing, process design, costing, and proposal preparation for water treatment technologies such as clarifiers, intake screens, dewatering presses, and auxiliary systems.</li><li>Collaborate with sales teams and channel partners to understand customer requirements and interpret technical specifications.</li><li>Develop techno-commercial proposals, including scope of work, equipment descriptions, performance guarantees, clarifications, exceptions, and pricing.</li><li>Prepare and issue RFQs to vendors/OEMs, perform technical and commercial evaluations of offers, and support vendor selection based on cost, compliance, and technical fit.</li><li>Conduct tender evaluations, review customer specifications and drawings, and identify risks, compliance requirements, and deviations.</li><li>Compile engineering packages for proposals, including datasheets, drawings, calculations, and supporting documentation.</li><li>Provide technical clarification and support to internal project teams and product managers on equipment design and system integration.</li><li>Conduct project risk analyses, compliance reviews, and margin assessments to ensure competitive and reliable solutions.</li><li>Independently manage engineering deliverables with accountability for planning, scheduling, and timely execution.</li><li>Interact directly with customers, sales representatives, and project stakeholders to clarify technical queries and support project acquisition.</li><li>Stay updated on industry advancements, product developments, and emerging technologies to strengthen proposal competitiveness.</li></ul>Must Have:<ul><li>Strong understanding of industrial equipment sizing, hydraulics, water treatment, and mechanical engineering principles.</li><li>Proficiency in costing, financial evaluation, and margin/pricing calculations.</li><li>Skilled in Excel and proposal documentation, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.</li><li>Familiarity with international standards and industry codes.</li><li>Ability to bridge technical and commercial aspects of projects.</li><li>Strong capability to review and interpret specifications and prepare technical comments/exceptions.</li></ul>Good to Have:   <ul><li>Experience with different water treatment technologies and working principles of major equipment.</li><li>Knowledge and good proficiency on 2D and 3D CAD tools such as AutoCAD and Inventor</li><li>Hands-on exposure to erection, commissioning, and troubleshooting of treatment plants.</li><li>Knowledge of mechanical, piping, and instrumentation design integration.</li><li>Strong cross-functional collaboration and customer-facing skills.</li><li>Familiarity with Autodesk 2D design tools.</li></ul>Qualifications: <ul><li>Full time B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.</li><li>5+ years of core water and wastewater treatment engineering domain experience.</li><li>Demonstrated expertise in application engineering, proposal development, and equipment/system design for water treatment plants.</li><li>Knowledge of water treatment technologies and technological advancements.</li></ul>Xylem offers you an exciting career in an international environment, with a global network of sales companies, suppliers and manufacturers.
