<h3>Position Overview</h3>We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to support our utility-scale solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement &amp; Construction) projects. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive cost estimates for large-scale solar PV projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives, client requirements, and industry standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge of solar construction, proficiency in estimating software, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, procurement, and project management teams.<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Prepare detailed cost estimates for utility-scale solar EPC projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.</li><li>Review RFPs, project specifications, drawings, and contract documents to fully understand project scope and requirements.</li><li>Develop quantity take-offs and cost models for all project components, including civil, structural, electrical, and balance of system (BOS) work.</li><li>Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.</li><li>Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to validate design assumptions, value engineering opportunities, and constructability considerations.</li><li>Identify risks, assumptions, and exclusions in estimates, and communicate these clearly to internal stakeholders.</li><li>Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, budgets, and presentations for clients.</li><li>Track historical cost data and maintain unit cost libraries to improve accuracy and efficiency of future estimates.</li><li>Support handoff of awarded projects to project management and operations teams.</li><li>Stay informed on industry trends, market pricing, and new technologies in solar PV and energy storage.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.</li><li>3–7 years of estimating experience, with at least 2 years focused on utility-scale solar or renewable energy EPC projects.</li><li>Strong understanding of solar PV systems, electrical design, civil/site work, and EPC contract structures.</li><li>Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid, ProEst, RSMeans, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.</li><li>Excellent analytical, math, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple estimates under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and clients.</li></ul><h3>Preferred Skills</h3><ul><li>Experience with hybrid and/ or battery energy storage systems (BESS) a plus.</li><li>Knowledge of NEC, utility interconnection requirements, and permitting processes.</li><li>Familiarity with Procore, Primavera (P6), or other project management software.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to identify value engineering opportunities and optimize project costs.</li></ul>
