Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Battery Storage Integration Engineer to join our engineering team supporting utility-scale solar + storage EPC projects. The role will focus on the design, integration, and performance optimization of battery energy storage systems (BESS) within utility-scale renewable projects. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in engineering, procurement, construction, and operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective integration of energy storage systems.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign &amp; Integration<ul> <li>Develop, review, and optimize technical designs for battery energy storage systems in coordination with solar PV plants and grid interconnection requirements.</li> <li>Ensure compatibility of BESS with inverters, transformers, switchgear, SCADA, and grid control systems.</li> <li>Conduct load flow, short circuit, and protection studies related to BESS integration.</li> <li>Collaborate with OEMs and suppliers to specify battery technology, inverters, and other key equipment.</li></ul>Project Support<ul> <li>Provide technical guidance to project development and EPC teams on BESS scope, sizing, and system configurations.</li> <li>Review vendor drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance with project and industry standards.</li> <li>Support permitting and interconnection processes by preparing technical documentation and responding to utility/regulatory inquiries.</li> <li>Participate in factory acceptance tests (FATs), commissioning, and performance testing of battery systems.</li></ul>Modeling &amp; Performance Analysis<ul> <li>Perform modeling and simulations of BESS performance under varying grid and operating scenarios.</li> <li>Analyze and optimize battery dispatch strategies for energy arbitrage, capacity, frequency response, and other ancillary services.</li> <li>Monitor, assess, and troubleshoot operational issues to ensure optimal performance of integrated solar + storage systems.</li></ul>Compliance &amp; Safety<ul> <li>Ensure compliance with all codes, standards, and safety requirements (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, UL, and local regulations).</li> <li>Support the development of safety protocols and hazard analysis for BESS projects.</li></ul>Collaboration &amp; Continuous Improvement<ul> <li>Work cross-functionally with project managers, procurement, and construction teams to ensure successful project execution.</li> <li>Stay current with emerging battery technologies, standards, and market trends to continuously improve design and implementation.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).</li> <li>Must have at least 3 years of BESS integration experience at a major BESS integrator in the US. </li><li> Must have proven BESS deployment experience in the US. Direct working experience on BMS. </li> <li>Strong hands-on experiences of lithium-ion batteries, inverters, PCS, EMS, and balance of plant systems.</li> <li>Hands-on experience with commissioning and operations of BESS projects.</li> <li>Familiarity with interconnection processes and utility requirements.</li> <li>Experience with EPC project lifecycle from design through commissioning preferred.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.</li></ul>Preferred Skills<ul> <li>Knowledge of hybrid solar + storage project integration.</li> <li>Familiarity with SCADA, communication protocols, and grid control systems.</li> <li>PE license or working toward licensure is a plus.</li></ul>
