There is 2,300 times more energy in geothermal heat in the ground than in oil, gas, coal, and methane combined. However, historically it’s been hard to find and expensive to develop. At Zanskar, we’re using better technology to find and develop new geothermal resources in order to make geothermal power the most affordable form of widely-deployable, 24/7, carbon-free generation on the planet.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:11pt;">Field data is Zanskar’s life blood; we rely on accurate and precise field measurements that are essential to guiding our exploration and development efforts. Our 2 or 3-person field teams, composed of geologic and equipment technicians, collaborate with our geologists and geoscientists on geothermal exploration projects. These teams employ a variety of geologic, geochemical, and drilling methods.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:11pt;">The primary role of the Geologic Technician is to ensure all scientific field methods and sampling are being performed to the highest standards. In addition to scientific responsibilities, the technician will support daily field operations, including the operation and maintenance of vehicles, UTVs, and light mechanical equipment and tools.</span></div><div><br></div><br><br><h3>Field Requirements</h3><ul><li>Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the U.S.</li><li>Valid driver’s license with no major infractions in the past three years.</li><li>Strong commitment to personal and team safety.</li><li>Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and professionalism.</li><li>High degree of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.</li><li>Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in small, remote teams.</li><li>Willingness to commute long distances (300+ miles) and participate in extended field rotations (14 days).</li><li>Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions at a fast operational tempo.</li><li>Physically able to perform strenuous tasks, including bending, kneeling, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.</li><li>Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure safe and effective performance of duties.</li><li>Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with experience operating and maintaining field vehicles and equipment.</li><li>Skilled in GPS use and navigation in remote environments.</li><li>Proficient with computers, especially within the Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Directories).</li><li>Maintains clean, orderly work practices and good housekeeping standards.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications:</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a closely related field.</li><li>Hands-on experience with scientific field methods and sampling in remote or wilderness settings.</li><li>Ability to safely operate and maintain company vehicles and equipment, including diesel trucks, trailers, and UTVs.</li><li>Experience operating light mechanical equipment and hand tools safely.</li></ul><h3>Preferred Qualifications:</h3><ul><li>OSHA certification, First Aid, and/or Wilderness safety training.</li><li>Experience with GAIA GPS or GIS platforms.</li><li>Strong passion for outdoor, field-based work.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain diesel trucks, trailers, and UTVs safely.</li><li>Competence in loading, unloading, hauling, and backing trailers on and off-road.</li><li>Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in the field.</li></ul><br><div><b style="font-size:11pt;">Equal Opportunity Employer</b></div><div><span style="font-size:11pt;">Zanskar is an equal opportunity employer (EOE) and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local employment practice laws. </span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:11pt;">This position may operate heavy machinery, and as such are subject to pre-employment drug testing.
