You have to BUILD fast &amp; passionately and build to simplify.</p><h3>Job Description</h3><p>We are seeking a hands-on powertrain Integration Engineer with expertise in EV powertrain systems, especially in motor and controller integration. What powertrain means at Exponent: </p><ol><li>Deep understanding of motor systems for EVs </li><li>Hands on experience tuning and working with motor controllers </li><li>Should understand Field Oriented Control, Current &amp; Voltage loops </li><li>System design and integration knowledge for gearboxes and their integration with motors</li></ol><p>The ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end powertrain architecture and integration of electric powertrain components with the overall EV architecture.</p><h3></h3><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Understanding vehicle specification and converting it to right specification for powertrain</li><li>Selection of right components for the Application - Motor, Controller, DC/DC etc.</li><li>Lead and execute the integration of electric motor and controller with the vehicle platform</li><li>Define and manage electrical interfaces between battery, motor controller (inverter), motor, VCU, and other subsystems.</li><li>Collaborate with mechanical and firmware teams to ensure seamless system integration.</li><li>Have ownership DFMEA, fault diagnostics, and resolution of integration-related issues.</li><li>Ensure compliance with relevant EV standards, safety norms, and communication protocols (CAN, SPI.).</li></ul><h3>Required Skills &amp; Experience</h3><ul><li>Hands-on experience with EV powertrain systems – Motor types (BLDC, PMSM, Induction) and their controllers.</li><li>Strong understanding of power electronics, motor control strategies, and EV integration challenges.</li><li>Experience with CAN tools (CANalyzer, CANoe) and basic understanding of VCU architecture.</li><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics Engineering Preferred Qualities</li></ul><ul><li>Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
