How you will contribute:We are seeking a passionate and mission-driven Scientist - Downstream Process Chemistry with theoretical knowledge in organic, physical, and biochemistry and experience developing and optimizing downstream bioprocesses. This individual will lead projects focused on improvements to our downstream process development, lead a small team of research associates, and work collaboratively with our team of Scientists and Engineers. The individual will have the opportunity to make an immediate and sustainable impact in the development of the company. 	What you will be working on:<ul style=""><li style="font-size:12pt;margin:0px;line-height:1.38;">Serve as a subject matter expert in process chemistry and aid in chemistry problem solving across the company with a focus on R&amp;D activities.</li><li style="font-size:12pt;margin:0px;line-height:1.38;">Lead projects on the design, development, and optimization of methods for cost-effective and scalable production of highly functional food ingredients - with an initial focus on lemna protein.</li><li style="font-size:12pt;margin:0px;line-height:1.38;">Develop new and innovative unit operations at laboratory scale and assist in technology transfer to pilot/demo scale such as centrifugation, homogenization, separation and filtration, aggregation/coagulation, drying and chromatography.</li><li style="font-size:12pt;margin:0px;line-height:1.38;">Implement improved analytical methods (chromatography, spectroscopy, etc.) to assess the effectiveness and robustness of extraction processes.
