As a part of our continued growth, AECOM Buildings + Places is seeking a motivated and skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Halifax, NS team to support various buildings projects. The successful hire will collaborate with large teams on Mechanical HVAC during all phases of high profile projects. Major Responsibilities: The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:<ul><li>Preparing deliverables and products such as presentation materials, calculations, drawings, specifications, selections, and cost estimates related to heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, and light industrial facilities.</li><li>Performing field investigation for incorporating existing conditions into construction documents.</li><li>Performing construction administration duties, such as shop drawing review, RFI response, construction inspection, and respond to client questions.<ul><li>Conduct on-site visits weekly to monitor construction progress, address issues, and ensure compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Coordinate with design teams and contractors to resolve technical and construction-related challenges.</li><li>Perform quality assurance reviews, ensuring that construction aligns with approved plans and specifications.</li></ul></li><li>Working within a project team environment and possessing good presentation and client interface skills.</li><li>Coordinating work with other project disciplines.</li><li>Working independently and making technical mechanical decisions based on building code interpretation and company standard practice.</li><li>Demonstrating creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery, technical and client challenges, determining technical objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for technical activities and applications.</li><li>Staying abreast of industry standards and approaches, and best practices.</li><li>Ensuring project work is undertaken is accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems. Mentoring junior staff.</li><li>Performing assignments of limited scope and complexity. Uses a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques in solving problems.</li><li>Assisting more senior level engineers in carrying out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed analysis, design, or computation methods.</li><li>Applying standard practices and techniques in specific situations. Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.</li></ul>
