POSITION SUMMARYThe BorgWarner Information Technology Intern Program is designed to provide a hands-on opportunity and environment to learn the profession of Information Technology at the entry-level from the perspective of a Tier-One Automotive Supplier.  We are seeking IT Interns for the traditional spring and fall semesters as well as the summer months between the spring and fall semesters.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES <ul><li> Perform entry-level service desk (aka help desk) functions including call answering/routing.</li><li>Diagnose and resolve entry-level technical hardware and software issues.</li><li>Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, and electronically.</li><li>Install new software on users' computers.</li><li>Clean, modify, and repair computer hardware including monitors, keyboards, and printers.</li><li>Follow standard service desk procedures.</li><li>Track and route problems and requests and document resolutions.</li><li>Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.</li><li>Work closely with other IT professionals.</li><li>Redirect problems to appropriate resources.</li><li>Learn to become a liaison between IT professionals and end users.</li></ul>EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE<ul><li>Working knowledge of fundamental operations of relevant software and hardware equipment (i.e. Microsoft Windows operating systems, Dell hardware, and Cisco network equipment).</li><li>Pursuing a BS in a related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).</li><li>Must be self-driven and able to accomplish entry-level troubleshooting tasks with decreasing supervision.</li><li>Microsoft or other industry certifications (i.e. ITIL, A++) are a plus.  </li></ul>KEY COMPETENCIES<ul><li>Priority Setting - Spends his/her time and the time of others on what's important; Quickly zeros in on the critical few and puts the trivial many aside; Can quickly sense what will help or hinder accomplishing a goal; Eliminates roadblocks; Creates focus.</li><li>Customer Focus - Is dedicated to meeting the exceptions and requirements of internal and external customers; Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; Acts with customers in mind; Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
