The goal of this role at Wisk is to ensure that we design safe and reliable high power electronics for the aircraft. You will be part of the Propulsion team in the Powertrain IPT.This is a hybrid work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View office 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days.  What you will do:<ul><li>As part of the Powertrain IPT organization and deployed in the Motor Controller Hardware Team, you will act as a seasoned engineer and designer focused in the design and development of low/high voltage electronics for a high power inverter.</li><li>You will take part in  designing high reliability power architectures and control electronics in accordance with relevant military standards, DO-254 standards, FMEA analysis, and tight tolerance/temperature restraints. </li><li>You will support motor controller testing, dyno testing, propeller testing, and also aircraft testing as an expert in power electronics.</li><li>You will take ownership of designs and oversee all aspects of lifecycle development including but not limited to: concept, board design, multi-functional team coordination, deployment of design into product lifecycle management (PLM) software, design verification testing, standardized documentation, requirements verification, and troubleshooting of issues during experimentation. </li><li>You will regularly coordinate with teams outside of the Motor Controller Team (mechanical, thermal, flight bus, systems, safety) and design to requirements as needed to meet goals of other IPTs.</li><li>You will help conceptualize designs that optimize the weight and power density of the propulsion unit.</li></ul> What you have done:<ul><li>PhD with 4 years experience, MSEE degree with at least 7 years of experience, or a BSEE/BSME degree with at least 9 years of experience</li><li>Experienced in developing multi-kilowatt power electronics and motor controllers</li><li>Experienced in weight optimizing power electronics</li><li>Experience designing for and troubleshooting EMI/EMC related issues</li><li>Experience in troubleshooting issues during the testing phase of integrated designs</li><li>A good grasp of analog and digital hardware development and validation techniques</li><li>Ability to model, simulate and optimize performance in MATLAB and PLECS</li><li>Great interpersonal skills</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills</li></ul>   Desired:<ul><li>Familiarity with DO-160/DO-254 certification and aerospace development best practices and standards</li><li>Experience with weight minimization is strongly desired</li><li>Experience with 10kW and above three-phase motor drive hardware design is strongly desired</li><li>Motor Control theory (FOC, DTC, etc.)</li><li>Familiar with electromagnetic motor design</li><li>Familiarity with Altium designer</li><li>Experience developing thermal management approaches for power electronics</li><li>Familiarity with the latest SiC and GaN power electronic devices</li><li>Experience writing and executing test procedures for design validation and qualification</li><li>Familiarity with MIL-STD-461</li></ul>Who you are:<ul><li>You are a highly motivated, self starting individual with a broad set of skills and never afraid of facing complex technical challenges</li><li>You are a solution oriented individual with a strong analytical mindset</li><li>You have strong communication skills and can easily tailor your communications to suit the audience</li><li>You can adapt quickly or propose changes needed to achieve early results in a timely fashion</li><li>You embrace challenges and take commitments and deliver results within reasonable expectations</li><li>You are a positive team player</li></ul>Compensation and Benefits:Compensation and Benefits:In addition to offering a great work environment and the opportunity to be part of the team making electric autonomous flight a reality, at Wisk, we offer excellent total rewards which include a competitive base salary, annual bonus, long term incentive, 401K, health benefits and much more.  Job Type: Full-timePay range the company expects to pay: $173,000 - $200,000 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity. Job Type: Full-timePay range the company expects to pay: per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.We are committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity, and we encourage  individuals from all backgrounds, including those from marginalized or underrepresented groups in the tech industry and aerospace, to apply for our job openings.
