This role will lead strategic communications efforts focused on holding Trump and Republican leaders accountable for policies that harm Americans’ health, economic security, and climate.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:11pt;">The Accountability Press Secretary will serve on Climate Power’s Accountability Campaign team to ensure the organization wins the daily news cycle, proactively shapes narratives, and engages key audiences in a coordinated effort to hold policymakers and polluters responsible. This position reports to the Deputy Managing Director, Communications  and is a Director level position.</span></div><br><br><h3>Responsibilities: </h3><ul><li>Lead Climate Power’s accountability communications strategy, blending rapid response with proactive planning for key moments and campaign cycles.</li><li>Draft, edit, and distribute press materials, including talking points, statements, and press releases.</li><li>Serve as on-the-record spokesperson when necessary.</li><li>Monitor breaking news and identify opportunities to advance accountability messaging.</li><li>Manage crisis communications and rapid response messaging in real-time, including outside regular working hours if needed.</li><li>Work with research, digital, political, and surrogate teams to ensure unified messaging.</li><li>ollaborate closely with Climate Power’s States teams and partners to integrate state and national communications strategies.</li><li>Pitch stories and secure media coverage connecting policy decisions to real-world harm.</li><li>Collaborate across units and with partner organizations to maximize impact.</li><div><br></div><div>Additional responsibilities may be assigned as need and capacity dictate.</div></ul><h3>Essential Qualifications</h3><ul><li>7+ years of communications experience, including at least 2 years in political communications.</li><li>3+ years of managerial or supervisory experience, including managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.</li><li>Strong storytelling instincts, editorial judgment, and ability to communicate clearly across formats.</li><li>Experience managing rapid-response communications and enterprise-level media strategies.</li><li>Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure campaign environment.</li><li>Must be able to work independently, but also collaboratively with  diverse groups of people, communities, and partners.</li><li>Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.</li><li>Strong people skills and exceptional team player</li></ul><h3>Desired Qualifications (nice to have!)</h3><ul><li>Experience in climate justice communications.</li><li>On-the-record spokesperson experience. </li><li>Proven success navigating the modern media landscape and building journalist relationships.</li></ul><br><div><b>Location &amp; Hours of Operations</b></div><div>Climate Power is a remote-first organization based in Washington, DC.
