About Sea-Up Sea-Up is the global leader in ocean ecosystem restoration using wave-driven upwelling and downwelling pumps. Since 2005 we've conducted over 100 days of ocean tests in US (TX CA HI OR) Bermuda Peru Newfoundland and Canary Islands, with funding from angel investors, Oregon Wave Energy Trust, Grantham Foundation for the Environment, and in-kind support from GEOMAR-Kiel and many others. Our mission to selectively populate the global oceans between 30 N and 30 S with our pumps, overcoming stratification caused by global warming, increasing phytoplankton, enhancing fisheries, sequestering CO2, and in some locations starving the Great Atlantic Sargassum Belt while chilling hurricanes. We are seeking a startup-experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our company on this journey.&nbsp;Role summary The CEO is responsible for implementing the company's strategic direction, securing customers, and building a high-performing team. This person will act as the public face of the business and work with the Founder to implement projects worldwide. Traditional “artificial upwelling” for marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) overlooks the coupled biological, microbial, and carbonate pumps that control oceanic carbon storage. By pairing deep (450 m) upwelling with a downwelling ribbon of equal depth, spaced more densely 35–80 km downcurrent, we achieve verified carbon removal, cooler sea-surface temperatures, and sargassum suppression using only wave energy.For sargassum control, we rely on phytoplankton outcompeting for nutrients, as phytoplankton grow ~10–30× faster than Sargassum in the same waters.In relevant locations such as Caribbean and tropical western Atlantic, upwelling 450m depth water achieves surface cooling - each +1 °C SST reduces the maximum sustained wind by roughly 6–8 % or one category on Saffir-Simpson.Fisheries benefit is driven by the trophic cascade where each trophic level sees 10% energy gain from prior level, with phytoplankton forming base of ocean food web. In typical open ocean upwelling rates this generates 10,000 tons net primary production as baseline benefit. Biodiversity benefits will track the trophic cascade, key being that our upwelled nutrients drive a natural progression of life - no monoculture here!Our business model is multi-focused across all benefits and involves innovative funding structures in development such as SAFE-ER whereby the buyer acquires a full suite of outcomes and an equity interest in the project entity.
