Staff Engineer - Electrochemical Methods

Job Brief

The Electrochemistry team is responsible for testing the performance of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) for Twelve’s electrochemical CO2 reduction process under a range of conditions and diagnose the limiting step in the process. In this role, you will lead the electrochemical diagnostics project and be responsible for designing and conducting electrochemical tests, analyzing CO2 reduction products, applying proper diagnostic tools to understand the CO2 reduction process, analyzing experimental results to guide future directions, assisting with development and optimization of the reactor for the CO2 conversion process, and managing relevant subprojects.

What You Will Do

• Design and conduct experiments to help understand the CO2 conversion process
• Apply electrochemical diagnostic techniques to identify areas of improvement
• Analyze and interpret experimental results
• Share data with cross-functional areas and facilitate discussions to guide experimental planning
• Document operating procedures for various diagnostic techniques
• Lead a team of electrochemical engineers and manage the diagnostics project
• Troubleshoot issues occurred during the test/on test stands
• Prepare presentations and report on progress at internal meetings

Who You Are

• Degree in a STEM field required (chemistry or chemical engineering preferred)
• Masters with at least 5 years of relevant experience OR
• PhD with at least 2 years of working experience
• You have strong electrochemical background, and are familiar with electrochemical techniques
• You have demonstrable hands-on experience in a research or industrial lab, with experience setting up electrochemical systems
• You are familiar with electrochemical instruments (such as potentiostats, frequency response analyzers and power supplies), and chemical analysis tools (such as HPLC and GC)
• You have strong technical communication skills and are adept at working with cross-functional groups
• You have exceptional time management, facilitation, and organizational skills
• You are capable of thinking and planning strategically, while also keeping your eye on the crucial details and ensuring strong execution
