Our mission is to replace synthetic dyes with sustainable, plant-based colorants that deliver performance without compromise. Backed by science and driven by innovation, we’re developing breakthrough pigment technologies to help food and beverage companies meet consumer demand for cleaner, more natural products.We are a team of 4 women founders who have entrepreneurial backgrounds, deep experience in bio-materials, chemistry, building climate tech startups and commercialization.The Role We’re looking for a Food Scientist who is passionate about color, curious about innovation, and ready to help build something from the ground up. As an early team member, you’ll play a critical role in developing, testing, and optimizing natural color formulations for real-world food applications.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Develop, test, and scale pigment and colorant formulations across multiple food and beverage systems.</li><li>Evaluate color stability, sensory attributes, and performance under various processing and storage conditions.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&amp;D, product, and operations) to translate lab results into commercial-ready solutions.</li><li>Document experimental design, formulation data, and technical insights for IP and regulatory support.</li><li>Contribute to a fast-paced, problem-solving culture and bring creative, hands-on energy to every challenge. </li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.</li><li>5-10 years of experience in food formulation, ideally with a focus on natural or synthetic colorants (formulation testing, sensory testing, color measurement etc)</li><li>Deep understanding of pigment chemistry, stability, and behavior in food matrices.</li><li>Strong experimental design, analytical, and data interpretation skills.</li><li>Excitement to work in a startup environment — adaptable, resourceful, and eager to take ownership.</li><li>Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate remotely with a diverse, passionate team. </li></ul>Nice-to-Haves<ul><li>Experience with plant-based colorants, emulsions, or encapsulation.</li><li>Familiarity with regulatory aspects of food colorants (FDA, EFSA, etc.).</li></ul> Why Join Us<ul><li>Be part of the founding team shaping the future of sustainable color technology.</li><li>Work remotely with flexibility and autonomy.</li><li>Salary to be commensurate based on experience.</li><li>Opportunity to make a tangible impact in the food industry’s shift toward cleaner, more transparent ingredients. </li></ul>If you’re excited by the idea of creating color from nature and building at the intersection of science and sustainability, we’d love to hear from you.
