<h3><strong>About the Role</strong></h3><p>Beewise is seeking a <strong>Beekeeper Crew Lead</strong> to oversee day-to-day operations at our stationary apiary in <strong>Fort Meade, Florida</strong>. In this role, you’ll lead a team of beekeepers dedicated to maintaining colony health, productivity, and site efficiency. You’ll be responsible for ensuring high-quality, consistent beekeeping practices while fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellence in the field.</p><p>This is a hands-on position that requires strong leadership, deep technical beekeeping knowledge, and a proactive approach to managing people and operations in a stationary environment.</p><hr><h3><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h3><ul><li><p><strong>Lead and manage</strong> a crew of beekeepers at the Fort Meade stationary apiary, providing direction, training, and daily support.</p></li><li><p><strong>Oversee colony health and productivity</strong>, including inspections, treatments, feeding, and pest and disease management.</p></li><li><p><strong>Plan and execute seasonal beekeeping activities</strong> such as splitting, requeening, honey production, and population balancing.</p></li><li><p><strong>Maintain detailed records</strong> on colony performance, treatments, and harvests.</p></li><li><p><strong>Ensure site safety and biosecurity standards</strong> are upheld across all operations.</p></li><li><p><strong>Coordinate with Operations, R&amp;D, and Data teams</strong> to support field research, testing, and hive performance optimization.</p></li><li><p><strong>Monitor and improve operational efficiency</strong>, identifying issues early and implementing corrective actions.</p></li><li><p><strong>Maintain equipment and apiary infrastructure</strong>, ensuring reliability and readiness for ongoing operations.</p></li></ul><hr><h3><strong>Qualifications &amp; Experience</strong></h3><ul><li><p><strong>5+ years of commercial beekeeping experience</strong>, including colony management and seasonal operations.</p></li><li><p><strong>2+ years of experience leading or supervising a field crew</strong> (5+ members preferred).</p></li><li><p>Strong understanding of bee health management, queen performance, and pest/disease control.</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.</p></li><li><p>Proven ability to lead by example and motivate field teams in outdoor working conditions.</p></li><li><p>Ability to work independently and adapt to dynamic field challenges.</p></li><li><p>Must be able to work full-time on-site at the <strong>Fort Meade, FL apiary</strong>.</p></li></ul><hr><h3><strong>Preferred Attributes</strong></h3><ul><li><p>Experience managing stationary or large-scale commercial apiaries.</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with data collection tools, hive monitoring systems, or precision beekeeping technologies.</p></li><li><p>Mechanical aptitude for maintenance of hive and field equipment.</p></li><li><p>CDL or experience with operating light machinery (preferred but not required).</p></li></ul>

By completely redesigning the beehive we were able to address a lot of the inefficiencies of the commonly used hives and significantly improve bees&rsquo; well-being and life longevity.
