This position will be essential in creating hardware prototypes and supporting engineering and R&amp;D projects. As a Hardware Prototype Technician, you will leverage your experience with rapid prototyping and fabrication techniques to deliver quick-turnaround parts, modify off-the-shelf components, and implement creative solutions to a wide range of design problems.<h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul style=""><li>Operate and program CNC milling centers, routers, and 3D printers.</li><li>Read and interpret technical drawings for prototype creation.</li><li>Fabricate metal and plastic parts using various tools.</li><li>Collaborate with multiple teams (hardware, electrical, firmware, etc.) to generate ideas and iterate on prototypes.</li><li>Design and build prototypes, test fixtures/ or other custom solutions.</li><li>Maintain records of equipment maintenance, calibration, and repairs.</li><li>Document lab procedures and workflows.</li><li>Maintain a safe, clean work environment.</li><li>Work autonomously and collaboratively in a small team.</li></ul><h2>About You </h2><h3>Required Qualifications</h3><ul style=""><li>HS Diploma with 5+ years related experience.</li><li>Proficiency with 3D CAD software and rapid prototyping tools.</li><li>Proficiency with common shop tools and equipment (drills, saws, etc).</li><li>Experience with electrical instrumentation (DMMs, Oscilloscopes, etc).</li><li>Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.</li><li>Experience with electrical (AC and DC) and mechanical systems.</li><li>Familiarity with the hardware prototyping process.</li><li>Comfortable adapting and learning new concepts and processes.</li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.</li></ul><h3>Bonus Qualifications</h3><ul style=""><li>Experience with Haas controls and G-Code.</li><li>Experience in a manufacturing environment.</li><li>Experience with home electrical wiring and similar contractor skills.</li><li>Comfort with Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Trello).</li><li>First aid / AED / CPR training.</li></ul><h2>Life at SPAN</h2>Headquartered in San Francisco’s vibrant SoMa neighborhood, we are an eclectic group of creative thinkers who value open communication, teamwork, and a ‘make it happen’ approach to addressing complex challenges. SPAN embraces diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way.
