<h2>Overview</h2>We are designing the Grid of the future!We are seeking to grow our Distribution Design Engineering Team and would like to hire candidates who can complete design tasks with minimal oversight and can learn quickly and provide training to other staff while ensuring that EPE’s reputation for providing clients the highest level of quality is maintained.Location: This position is hybrid; the successful candidate will be located around Champaign, Illinois, preferably within 25-30 min drive from the EPE office to support occasional travel to client site as well as a work in the office.<h2>Responsibilities</h2>How you can make an impact:System Design and Engineering:<ul> <li>Create distribution design sketches and supporting documents per the Client’s distribution design guidelines and standards.</li> <li>Specify distribution construction standards.</li> <li>Review, approve and stamp distribution designs and drawings.</li> <li>Specify necessary materials per Client distribution construction standards.</li> <li>Perform and provide cost estimates to customers.</li> <li>Support distribution designers with customer related issues and expectations.</li> <li>Prepare new drawings utilizing AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Utility Design methods.</li></ul>Perform all necessary steps to produce and release to Client design drawings, including:<ul> <li>Field inspects pole locations.</li> <li>Stake pole locations.</li> <li>Create unique tracking numbers for each pole/project location.</li> <li>Coordinate with Client’s internal stakeholders including Construction, Civil Inspection, Forestry, Public</li> <li>Maintain knowledge of current procedural/process documents.</li> <li>Create and update process documents as needed</li> <li>Maintain accurate documentation of project correspondence, project schedules/timelines</li> <li>Provide professional and timely communication with the client, other contractors, and utility customers as well as other project stakeholders</li></ul>Field inspect locations of the impacted field locations to gather necessary information for design purposes.<ul> <li>Perform and/or check engineering calculations to determine and confirm design feasibility.</li> <li>Create distribution construction notes.</li> <li>Specify materials required for distribution construction projects.</li> <li>Perform and provide cost estimates to customers.</li> <li>Follow Client approved safety procedures both in the office and in the field.</li> <li>Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).</li> <li>Other distribution engineering and design services as required such as permitting or project coordination</li> <li>Fielding trips will occasionally require overnight stays and travel (5-10%)</li></ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2>Bring your passion, here what’s needed:<ul> <li>Experience with electrical distribution decision making and related design calculations</li> <li>Distribution Design Construction Units (CU’s and MU’s)</li> <li>Familiarity with the NESC and NEC</li> <li>Experience with Utility Work Management Systems (Maximo, etc)</li> <li>Experience with Utility Design and Construction Standards</li> <li>CAD Experience (AUTOCAD/MicroStation or similar)</li> <li>Must have experience using ESRI ARC GIS or other utility design software packages</li> <li>Ability to travel to client site</li></ul>  Lead the change!Be a part of an innovative team shaping the grid of the future through advanced energy intelligence.  For more than half a century, Electric Power Engineers (EPE) has partnered with power and energy clients across the globe, providing consulting expertise and energy intelligence software solutions for complex engineering and grid modeling challenges.
