We are on a mission to transition the global energy landscape towards a purely sustainable and emission free future. <h2>About the Role</h2>We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to aid in thermal and fluid systems design, assembly, testing, and optimization of our system. Fourier engineers work in a hands-on, collaborative environment to solve problems and push progress forward. Qualified candidates should have prior hands-on experience working in a mechanical lab or industrial company. <h2>Roles and responsibilities</h2><ul style=""><li>Design and validate air and liquid cooling technologies for thermal management of electrolyzer stacks and electrical components.</li><li>Optimize cooling solutions for all aspects of their performance, cost, and reliability </li><li>Review process flow diagrams, and create P&amp;IDs and mechanical design</li><li>Perform analysis to validate fluid &amp; thermal performance and safety of the designs</li><li>Facilitate selection of the optimal hardware components (heat exchanger, pump, fan, sensors, pipes, valves, fittings etc.) from external suppliers </li><li>Collaborate with power systems and product teams to aid in system integration</li><li>Assess failure modes that involve thermal/structural/electrical/chemical/fluid interactions </li><li>Develop test plans and lead thermal &amp; fluid systems lab test, and validation activities</li><li>Create and maintain Balance of Plant cost/Bill of Materials </li><li>Oversee the assembly and setup of prototypes, and production units</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2>Required: <ul style=""><li>B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience</li><li>First-principles physics understanding of engineering disciplines such as: heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics</li><li>Experience in 2D/3D CAD piping and thermal system design </li><li>Extensive experience taking designs from concept through production</li><li>Experience in DFM, DFA and cost optimization </li><li>Hands-on experience assembling mechanical components </li><li>Familiarity with mechanical and structural design </li><li>Skills: 3D CAD (Solidworks or similar), 2D Drawings, GD&amp;T</li></ul>Preferred: <ul style=""><li>Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D) in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field </li><li>Experience in the following areas: <ul style=""><li>Hands-on work with gas and/or water piping </li><li>FMEA (Failure Mode &amp; Effects Analysis) </li><li>Working with hydrogen or similar gasses </li><li>Thermal FEA and fluid analysis (CFD)</li><li>Packaging design for thermal and fluids systems</li></ul></li></ul><h2>What we offer</h2><ul style=""><li>Fully paid Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage</li><li>Competitive salary and equity compensation commensurate with experience</li><li>401k</li><li>Diverse and inclusive work environment</li><li>Paid sick days and vacation</li></ul>
