Position Overview:Solid Power is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment. This position requires the ability to independently create the programming required to safely run industrial machine using PLCs. Additionally, the position requires the ability to assess ladder logic programs written by others and root-out problems as well as improve machine performance.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with ladder logic programming, SCADA development, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming. Experience with machine networking with EthernetIP, and developing interfaces between industrial control components is required. Any experience with commissioning new plants including reviewing electrical designs and troubleshooting programs using Allen Bradley PLCs is highly advantageous for this role. This position requires the ability to work both directly with other engineers in a collaborative environment to collectively solve problems, as well as independently, taking an idea of how a machine should work and fully developing the controls to execute.Job Duties:<ul><li>Design, develop, and supervise all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery.</li><li>Create PLC programs, from the ground up, to control industrial material/chemical manufacturing equipment.</li><li>Create and maintain a revision management system for all machine programming.</li><li>Lead all PLC related activities, responding immediately to any “down machine” conditions</li><li>Specify controls hardware including PLCs and associated IO, pressure/flow/temperature instrumentation, VFDs, circuit breakers, pneumatic valve banks, and industrial safety components.</li><li>Develop the skills of electrical support staff to increase Solid Power’s depth of knowledge.</li><li>Work closely, collaboratively, and effectively with other departments and team members.</li></ul>Qualifications/Requirements:<ul><li>Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or related field.</li><li>Minimum 10 years of related industry experience.</li><li>Expertise in Allen Bradley PLC programming with Studio5000 Logix Designer, Studio5000 View Designer, and FT View Studio.</li><li>Experience with NFPA 70 and Electrical Classification (C1D1, C1D2, C2D1, and C2D2)</li><li>Ability to independently troubleshoot equipment for improvement for quality and delivery</li><li>Experience with maintaining Asset Centre</li><li>Experience with Ignition and Siemens is a plus</li></ul>Physical Requirements<ul><li>Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods</li><li>Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights</li><li>Ability to withstand exposure to noise, vibration, and extreme temperatures</li><li>Ability to work safely in a potentially hazardous environment</li><li>Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR</li></ul>Salary Range: $125,000 to $186,000Benefits: Solid Power offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical/dental/vision insurance, employer paid Life/AD&amp;D/STD/LTD insurance, 401k with company match, paid holidays, unlimited PTO, up to six (6) weeks paid FMLA leave, cell phone reimbursement and eligibility to participate in our equity plan. Export Control Requirements: This position could require access to technology, software and other information that is subject to governmental access control restrictions, due to export controls.
