<h2>Scope of Work</h2><p>The position will be contract, up to 40 hours per week for 2-3 months, with potential to extend the contract after the initial term.</p><p>The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the following:</p><h3>1. Design Completion</h3><ul><li><p>Analyze and understand existing mechanical design documentation</p></li><li><p>Complete all unfinished mechanical components and subsystems</p></li><li><p>Create detailed 3D CAD models and associated 2D drawings</p></li><li><p>Perform structural and thermal analysis as required</p></li><li><p>Ensure mechanical design complies with relevant industry standards</p></li></ul><h3>2. Design for Manufacturability (DFM)</h3><ul><li><p>Optimize the design for cost-effective manufacturing</p></li><li><p>Evaluate and select appropriate materials and processes</p></li><li><p>Develop assembly procedures and documentation</p></li><li><p>Identify and resolve potential manufacturing challenges</p></li><li><p>Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM)</p></li><li><p>With with contract manufacturers to validate designs and develop production tooling</p></li></ul><h3>3. Prototyping and Testing</h3><ul><li><p>Coordinate fabrication of prototypes</p></li><li><p>Develop and execute mechanical test plans</p></li><li><p>Document test results and implement design improvements</p></li><li><p>Support integration with electrical and software systems</p></li></ul><h3>4. Documentation and Communication</h3><ul><li><p>Maintain comprehensive design documentation</p></li><li><p>Participate in design reviews and team meetings</p></li><li><p>Communicate with vendors and manufacturing partners</p></li><li><p>Provide weekly progress reports</p></li></ul><h2>Deliverables</h2><ul><li><p>Complete 3D CAD models of all mechanical components</p></li><li><p>Detailed 2D manufacturing drawings with proper GD&amp;T</p></li><li><p>Comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM)</p></li><li><p>Assembly and installation documentation</p></li><li><p>DFM analysis report with recommendations</p></li><li><p>Test procedures and results documentation</p></li></ul><h2>Timeline</h2><p>The work is expected to be completed within an agreed-upon timeframe after project initiation.</p><h2>Required Qualifications</h2><ul><li><p>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field</p></li><li><p>2-5 years of experience in mechanical design</p></li><li><p>Proficiency in 3D CAD software</p></li><li><p>Experience with DFM principles and manufacturing processes</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of relevant industry standards and best practices</p></li><li><p>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication and documentation abilities</p></li></ul><h2>Project Management</h2><p>The Mechanical Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager/Project Lead and will collaborate with the electrical, software, and manufacturing teams. Weekly progress meetings will be scheduled to review status, address challenges, and coordinate cross-functional activities.</p><p>This SOW may be modified as needed with written agreement from all parties.</p>
