Position Overview:Solid Power is seeking a R&amp;D Intern to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will be tasked with assisting R&amp;D personnel on characterization of cathode materials and lab scale cell builds. Job Duties:<ul><li>Conduct materials characterization and perform cell building activities under the guidance of scientists.</li><li>Perform basic materials characterization including XRD, TGA/DSC, FTIR, PSA, and others.</li><li>Safe operation of various lab equipment including furnaces, glove boxes, and battery testers.</li><li>Conform to all safety precautions and protocols.</li><li>Maintain thorough and accurate records of all conducted experimentation.</li><li>Clean and organize common equipment and lab areas.</li><li>Document and follow standard operating procedures.</li></ul>Qualifications/ Requirements:<ul><li>Working towards a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, material science, chemical engineering, or a related discipline. Junior/Senior-level preferred.</li><li>Ability to work in dry room environment, gloveboxes, and chemistry lab.</li><li>The candidate must be able to commit to 10-15 hours per week during the Spring semester and ideally &gt;15 hours per week during the Summer. This is an on-site role. </li><li>Experience with characterization techniques such as XRD, TGA/DSC, FTIR, PSA is a plus.</li><li>Excellent work ethic and ability to quickly demonstrate independence on routine measurements and procedures.</li><li>Hands-on experience working with gloveboxes, in dry rooms, or in wet chemical labs is a plus.</li><li>Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving research and development needs.</li><li>Highly detail-oriented mindset with an eye toward practical solutions.</li><li>Excellent communication and organizational skills.</li></ul>All offers of employment at Solid Power are contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.Hourly Compensation: $20-$22/hourSchedule: 10-15 hours per week during spring semester and ideally &gt;15 hours per week during the summer. Application Deadline: This role will be posted until a suitable candidate has been identified. Export Control Requirements: This position requires access to technology, software, and other information that is subject to governmental access control restrictions, due to export controls.
