This is what you need to know:Location: Vancouver, BCSalary: $25 per hour, 40 hours per weekContract: 12 week contract- Summer 2026 (May 18th Start Date)Reporting to: Engineering Resource ManagerYour role in the mission:We are seeking a summer intern in Mechanical Engineering (Plasma Diagnostics) to apply your education and experience in the development of plasma diagnostics for a new fusion energy device.The ideal candidate will have experience in CAD design, Finite Element Analysis, and thermo-mechanical effects. This role will require someone who can work with cross-functional teams to bring complex concepts to life.<ul><li>Create and update 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings in Siemens NX </li><li>Design and develop CAD models for plasma diagnostics. </li><li>Support mechanical design activities including concept generation, layout, and tolerance analysis </li><li>Assist with mechanical assembly design, tooling design, and part integration efforts </li><li>Contribute to design reviews and documentation to ensure accuracy and manufacturability </li><li>Collaborate with engineers across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, systems) to support ongoing development projects.</li></ul><ul></ul>What you’ll need:<ul><li>Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)</li><li>Hands-on experience with Siemens NX (Or similar CAD Software) for modeling and drafting</li><li>Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and GD&amp;T principles</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment</li><li>Strong attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills</li></ul><ul></ul>Type One Energy applies proven advanced manufacturing methods, modern computational physics and high-field superconducting magnets to develop its optimized stellarator fusion energy system.
