This approach enhances the livelihoods and resilience of millions of resource-poor farmers while advancing a more productive, inclusive, and climate-resilient agri-food system within planetary boundaries.For more information, visit <a>www.cimmyt.org</a>CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position.This position will be based at CIMMYT’s headquarters in El Batán, Texcoco, Mexico, approximately 45 minutes from Mexico City.Specific duties:Media Strategy &amp; Execution<ul><li>Implement the Media Relations operational plan aligned with CIMMYT’s mission and strategic goals.</li><li>Execute media outreach strategies to secure positive coverage in global, regional, and national media.</li><li>Monitor media coverage and produce regular reports to assess PR effectiveness and inform strategy.</li></ul>Content Development<ul><li>Write and edit press releases, media advisories, news articles, and thought leadership content.</li><li>Craft compelling narratives that highlight CIMMYT’s research breakthroughs, development impact, and human-interest stories.</li><li>Create engaging content for media channels and support donor communications campaigns.</li></ul>Stakeholder Coordination<ul><li>Collaborate with internal departments (Creative Hub, Social &amp; Digital, Internal Communications, Executive Communications, HR, and Regional Communications) to ensure consistent messaging and integrated campaign execution.</li><li>Support media relations needs of the Executive Team and coordinate communications for HR-related events and external campaigns.</li></ul>Media Engagement &amp; Events<ul><li>Plan and manage media events including press conferences, interviews, and briefings.</li><li>Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.</li><li>Respond to media inquiries and support crisis communication efforts.</li></ul>Research &amp; Innovation<ul><li>Conduct research on media trends, industry developments, and emerging issues to identify opportunities for coverage.</li><li>Stay current with communication technologies and best practices to enhance media engagement.</li></ul>Project &amp; Campaign Management<ul><li>Coordinate and execute internal and external communications projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.</li><li>Negotiate contracts and manage deliverables related to external communications vendors or partners.</li><li>Support the implementation of donor cultivation plans through targeted media activities.</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, or a related field.</li><li>Minimum 5 years of experience in media relations, public affairs, or strategic communications, preferably in an international or research-focused organization.</li><li>Proven track record of securing media coverage and managing media events.</li><li>Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English; Spanish and/or French proficiency is a plus.</li><li>Experience with media monitoring tools and analytics platforms.</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively across departments and cultures.</li><li>Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.</li></ul>BenefitsCIMMYT offers an attractive remuneration package and support for continuous professional development.
