You’ll set the direction and drive execution across subsystem design, integration, and validation, ensuring our hardware is safe, reliable, and ready for scale. This role is ideal for a technical leader who thrives at the intersection of multiple disciplines and wants to help build a world-class energy storage product from first principles.  Responsibilities: <ul><li>Act as technical lead for Peak’s products </li></ul><ul><li>Lead system design and ensure successful integration across system, mechanical, structural, and thermal domains. </li></ul><ul><li>Define and maintain system-level requirements for HV/LV distribution, enclosures, interconnects, cooling, and protections. </li></ul><ul><li>Own system modeling and engineering through requirements definition across mechanical, thermal, and structural domains to ensure cohesive, high-performance product design  </li></ul><ul><li>Oversee design-for-manufacturability and collaborate with supply chain partners to scale production. </li></ul><ul><li>Own validation testing—mechanical reliability, thermal cycling, HV insulation, seismic/structural performance. </li></ul><ul><li>Ensure compliance with safety and certification standards (UL, IEEE, IEC). </li></ul><ul><li>Partner with software, firmware, and electronics teams to deliver seamless end-to-end product integration. </li></ul><ul><li>Recruit, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary hardware team spanning electrical, mechanical, structural, and thermal engineering. </li></ul>Minimum Qualifications: <ul><li>10+ years of experience in hardware engineering with at least 5 years in leadership roles. </li></ul><ul><li>Proven track record of delivering at scale high voltage and high power systems, energy storage systems, or comparable large-scale industrial/automotive hardware. </li></ul><ul><li>Expertise across electrical system design (HV/LV systems, bussing, protections), mechanical/structural design, and thermal management. </li></ul><ul><li>Skilled in CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA) and analysis tools (FEA, CFD) as well as hands-on prototyping and validation. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong understanding of compliance, certification, and safety requirements for ESS hardware. </li></ul><ul><li>Excellent communicator and team builder with the ability to align across disciplines. </li></ul><ul><li>Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. </li></ul>Preferred Qualifications: <ul><li>Experience scaling hardware teams in startups or high-growth environments. </li></ul><ul><li>Familiarity with manufacturing processes for ESS enclosures, interconnects, and cooling systems. </li></ul><ul><li>Exposure to sodium-ion, lithium-ion, or other advanced battery technologies. </li></ul>Peak Energy Core Values <ul><li>Speed Through Focus: Prioritize what matters most and execute quickly without distractions. </li></ul><ul><li>Mission Over Self: Put the company's mission and team success ahead of individual interests. </li></ul><ul><li>Face the Brutal Truth: Embrace honesty, even when it’s uncomfortable, to make informed decisions. </li></ul><ul><li>Be a Good Person: Treat everyone with respect and integrity, fostering a positive and ethical work environment.  </li></ul>The salary range for this role is $215,000 - $265,000, with actual pay varying based on work location, experience, and skills.  Our competitive benefits package includes flexible PTO, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, a strong 401(k) plan, and equity opportunities.
