You will act proactively, maintain an external focus, and take a future-oriented approach. By leveraging strong networking and influencing skills, you will identify opportunities and risks in close cooperation with both internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for complex local and international indirect tax reporting, transfer pricing documentation, and related compliance activities. Additionally, you will support the business in project tax planning and other operational matters, ensuring that all tax obligations are met accurately and efficiently, in full alignment with Wärtsilä’s reporting requirements. Main responsibilities <ul><li>Prepare and submit Indirect tax (VAT) calculations and declarations in line with local legislation, including transaction analysis, accurate reporting, correct VAT handling instructions, and account balance follow-up.</li><li>Act as the primary contact for local tax authorities, managing relationships and ensuring alignment with agreed practices and frameworks.</li><li>Participate in tax audits and reviews and monitor changes in local tax legislation, assessing their impact on business operations.</li><li>Contribute to tax technology development projects, including automation and RPA, and support strategic planning using automation and data analytics.</li><li>Manage VAT registrations as required by business needs, including Wärtsilä’s consolidated VAT registration in the Netherlands.</li><li>Prepare and submit direct tax calculations and declarations at legal entity level, ensuring accuracy, proper tax positions, and compliant documentation.</li><li>Handle withholding tax monitoring and declarations at entity level.</li><li>Oversee Transfer Pricing documentation for legal entities, ensuring accurate representation of intercompany transactions in cooperation with Corporate Tax and Business units.</li><li>Ensure compliance with other tax reporting obligations, organize tax trainings, and contribute to tax governance, internal controls, and compliance.</li></ul> What do we expect from you? <ul><li>Bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent) and at least 7 years of experience managing complex tax matters.</li><li>In-depth knowledge of taxation, local and international tax laws, IFRS standards, auditing, and internal controls.</li><li>Proficiency in SAP and other relevant reporting tools, combined with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Excellent networking, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a service-oriented and proactive mindset.</li><li>Innovative, adaptable, and action-oriented, able to think creatively and build effective relationships across diverse teams.</li><li>Fluent in Dutch and English.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to cooperate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, showing cultural sensitivity and professionalism.</li></ul> Why you and us?  We at Wärtsilä believe in empowerment, ownership and taking responsibility of our work. We support each other’s growth, and co-creation is the true basis of our innovation. We have the courage to see opportunities and take initiative.  We are authentic and honest, and we strongly believe in that by being your own true self you can accomplish so much more.
