Our goal for our internship program is to see what it’s like to be a full time Wisk employee and complete meaningful work.We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Composite Layup Intern to join our manufacturing team. This internship provides hands-on experience working with advanced composite materials and processes used in the production of high-performance structures. The intern will assist in the fabrication, layup, trimming, and finishing of composite parts while learning industry-standard techniques and safety practices.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Assist in the preparation and layup of composite materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, and aramid fabrics.</li><li>Learn to read and interpret technical drawings, ply schedules, and work instructions.</li><li>Support the cutting, kitting, and labeling of materials for layup.</li><li>Participate in vacuum bagging, resin infusion, and autoclave curing processes under supervision.</li><li>Maintain clean and organized work areas, ensuring compliance with FOD and safety protocols.</li><li>Support demolding, trimming, sanding, and finishing of composite parts.</li><li>Conduct basic inspections of layup quality and dimensional accuracy.</li><li>Document process steps and report any defects or discrepancies to senior technicians.</li><li>Collaborate with engineers and fabricators to support prototype builds and R&amp;D projects</li></ul>Requirements:<ul><li>Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing, or related technical program.</li><li>Basic understanding of composite materials, fabrication processes, or general manufacturing techniques preferred.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.</li><li>Ability to follow detailed instructions and work safely in a production environment.</li><li>Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.</li><li>Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.</li></ul>Preferred Skills (Not Required):<ul><li>Experience with vacuum bagging, pre-preg layup, or wet layup processes.</li><li>Familiarity with hand tools, sanding, trimming, and surface prep.</li><li>Understanding of autoclave, oven, or curing processes.</li><li>CAD or composite pattern experience (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or Fibersim) a plus.</li></ul>Job Type: InternshipPay Rate for this internship opportunity is up to $30 per hourWe are committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity, and we encourage  individuals from all backgrounds, including those from marginalized or underrepresented groups in the tech industry and aerospace, to apply for our job openings.
