AECOM Buildings + Places, is seeking a motivated and skilled Mechanical Engineer-Building Design to help lead buildings projects (commercial, institutional, light industrial facilities). This position is based out of Burnaby, British Columbia office with opportunities for hybrid work. Some travel to nearby cities may be required. This role offers opportunities for career growth. AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Municipal, Institutional, and Government projects.  Major Responsibilities: <ul><li>Mechanical Project Lead responsible for design and construction administration.</li><li>Prepare Basis of Design report, technical memorandum and Specifications.</li><li>Independently performs all tasks necessary to complete primary design at the early stages of the project and develops the concept to high quality detailed design.</li><li>Design HVAC system including package units, central plants, and hydronic system.</li><li>Design complete plumbing system including potable water distribution system, drainage system, and miscellaneous system such as compressed air and natural gas piping.</li><li>Design fire protection systems using a performance specification approach.</li><li>Performs HVAC calculations and analysis using industry programs (Carrier HAP).</li><li>Perform calculation for duct and pipe sizing, water and drainage flows, water heater sizing and pump sizing and selection.</li><li>Design HVAC Controls systems with integration into BMS and SCADA Systems.</li><li>Provide equipment schedules, select equipment, and coordinate with vendors.</li><li>Assists with the design and drafting of mechanical systems in 3D such as REVIT on an as needed basis.</li><li>Performs self-quality control reviews of design calculations or drawings prior to submitting them to senior staff for review and verification.</li></ul><ul><li>Attend and conduct meetings with clients, vendors, and other project stakeholders.</li><li>Travels to construction sites to conduct mechanical inspections and prepare reports.</li><li>Support field staff during construction phase of projects, including responding to submittal reviews and RFIs, and site instructions.</li><li>Manage and coordinate work with engineers and technicians of other disciplines and architects.</li></ul><ul><li>Strong communication skills, spoken and written.</li><li>Able to work independently or as part of a team.</li><li>Benefits from hands-on mentorship from senior engineers while contributing your expertise to live projects.</li><li>Assists mechanical engineering team manager with mentoring junior engineering staff.</li><li>Well organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.</li></ul>
