By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.About the role:The Health &amp; Safety Operations Manager (Waste) is a key member of the London Energy Ltd (LEL) HSE team, responsible for promoting health and safety best practice across LEL’s waste operations and projects. Working closely with the Head of HSE, the postholder will help build a positive safety culture, driving continual improvement and ensuring compliance with all legal and organisational requirements.As LEL’s subject matter expert for waste operations, the role provides specialist guidance, operational support and assurance to teams across the business. The postholder will also advise the Executive Team and wider organisation to support the safe and effective delivery of the HSE business plan.When required, the Health &amp; Safety Operations Manager (Waste) will represent LEL in meetings with the North London Waste Authority (NLWA), presenting performance data, incident reviews, actions and other HSE-related information.<ul><li>Lead, manage and develop the Waste H&amp;S team (H&amp;S Manager and Advisor), ensuring departmental and organisational objectives are achieved. </li><li> Drive long-term H&amp;S strategy and continuous improvement across waste operations, overseeing governance, risk management, compliance and alignment with industry best practice. </li><li> Oversee risk assessments, audits and incident investigations, identifying trends, implementing corrective actions and embedding lessons learned across the business. </li><li> Support safe waste operations by advising teams and contractors, reviewing RAMS, monitoring construction and site activities for compliance with CDM, Life Saving Rules and legal requirements. </li><li> Promote a strong, proactive safety culture through training, inductions, performance reporting, behavioural initiatives and knowledge sharing. </li><li> Provide expert H&amp;S advice across LEL, contributing to policy development, management system reviews, audit actions, contractor oversight and engagement with regulators and stakeholders. </li><li> Manage H&amp;S performance reporting, support budgeting processes and represent LEL Waste Operations in external meetings, including with NLWA.</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Proven health &amp; safety leader with significant experience driving positive safety culture and transformational H&amp;S improvements. </li><li> In-depth knowledge of legislation and regulations relevant to waste operations, with at least 6 years’ practical experience in waste environments. </li><li> Minimum 8 years’ experience in an HSE role, including managing multiple contractors and working autonomously in complex operational settings. </li><li> Strong communicator and influencer, able to make effective decisions, prioritise workload and deliver results across diverse teams. </li><li> NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent) with working knowledge of ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001. </li><li> IT-literate, with experience using digital systems (D365 an advantage), and competent in project management approaches. </li><li> Full UK driving licence (or ability to travel independently to remote sites).</li></ul>Benefits<ul><li>Private Medical &amp; Life Insurance</li></ul><ul><li>Company Pension Scheme </li><li>Annual Leave Package</li><li>Employee Recognition Scheme </li><li>Access to Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) </li><li>+ Many more benefits  </li></ul>We are only accepting internal applications for this position.<a href="https://apply.workable.com/london-energy-1/j/7BB2DCAC06/apply/"></a>
