<h2><strong>Job Description</strong></h2><p>We are looking for a hands-on Controller to own and scale our accounting function as the company grows. This role is both strategic and deeply operational—ideal for someone who enjoys building systems from the ground up, rolling up their sleeves, and partnering closely with the business.</p><p>The Controller will lead all accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and strengthen the financial infrastructure needed to support a fast-moving, capital-intensive organization. You’ll work cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and leadership to deliver clear financial insight, cost transparency, and strong controls as we scale.</p><h2><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h2><div><div><ul><li><div>Lead all accounting operations for a growing chemical manufacturing and machine fabrication business, including multi-entity consolidation and intercompany activity.</div></li><li><div>Own cost accounting frameworks across both discrete manufacturing (BOMs, routings, WIP, PPV, ECO controls) and chemical process operations (batch costing, yield and mix variances, utilities modeling, and environmental accruals).</div></li><li><div>Track construction and equipment costs, manage CIP and fixed assets, and ensure accurate capitalization of plant and machinery.</div></li><li><div>Partner with Operations and Engineering to provide real-time visibility into production costs, inventory valuation, and cash flow impacts.</div></li><li><div>Implement and optimize ERP manufacturing modules (Dynamics 365 or NetSuite) for inventory, WIP, cost tracking, compliance, and reporting.</div></li><li><div>Establish SOX-ready internal controls across plant operations, inventory, and change management.</div></li><li><div>Manage the monthly close, GAAP financial statements, tax compliance, and lender reporting.</div></li><li><div>Develop and mentor the accounting team to support rapid growth and increasing operational complexity.</div></li><li><div>Support strategic initiatives, including COGS reduction programs, KPI dashboards tied to EBITDA, and financial modeling for new facilities.</div></li></ul></div></div><h2><strong>Qualifications</strong></h2><ul><li><div>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.</div></li><li><div>7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing cost accounting across both discrete and process environments.</div></li><li><div>Proven experience in chemical, food, or industrial manufacturing; fertilizer or similar processes strongly preferred.</div></li><li><div>Hands-on expertise in standard costing, BOMs and routings, WIP, yield and mix variance analysis, and inventory controls.</div></li><li><div>Experience leading or supporting ERP implementations (Dynamics 365, NetSuite, or similar) and building scalable accounting processes.</div></li><li><div>Strong understanding of CapEx accounting, fixed assets, and project accounting for plant construction and expansions.</div></li><li><div>Familiarity with environmental compliance costs, utilities modeling, and operational KPIs.</div></li><li><div>Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment while partnering cross-functionally with Operations and Engineering.</div></li></ul><h2><strong>Benefits</strong></h2><ul><li>Compensation: $150,000 - $170,000</li><li>3 weeks of paid vacation</li><li>7 company holidays and 4 floating holidays</li><li>Medical and Dental insurance</li><li>Parental leave</li><li>401 (k) plan with matching</li></ul>
