Timmons Group is seeking a talented Civil Designer to join our dynamic Water/Wastewater Group in our Richmond, VA office. The qualified individual will perform civil site design tasks for a variety of water/wastewater infrastructure projects. The complexity and fast-paced nature of our client’s needs create a dynamic environment for our team members, fostering a culture of teamwork, diverse training opportunities, and a sense of ownership in the successful outcome of the project.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:<ul><li>Use professional judgment to independently complete assigned engineering designs.</li><li>Lead and execute civil site design tasks across diverse infrastructure projects.</li><li>Collaborate closely with Project Managers and mentor junior engineers.</li><li>Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy.</li><li>Make impactful design decisions that align with client goals and project timelines.</li><li>Identify and resolve technical, scheduling, or financial challenges.</li><li>Support construction oversight and respond to contractor inquiries.</li><li>Contribute to proposals, cost estimates, and client communications.</li><li>Act as a technical expert on assigned projects and as Project Manager on smaller scope or specialty projects as assigned.</li></ul>Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:<ul><li>At least three years of design/engineering experience in municipal infrastructure is required.  </li><li>Intermediate to advanced ability to use AutoCAD Civil 3D software is required.</li><li>Ability to use other engineering automation tools (Revit, BIM 360) is preferred.</li><li>Must possess strong technical verbal and technical writing skills and be able to read technical literature and engineering plans.</li><li>Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities.</li><li>Must demonstrate two-way communication to effectively work with internal staff. </li></ul>
