The role primarily focuses on sustaining engineering, value engineering/VA-VE, and new product development (NPD) to ensure design robustness, manufacturability, cost-optimization, and product competitiveness. The engineer will lead complex design improvements, handle engineering changes, drive problem-solving activities, collaborate globally with stakeholders, and mentor junior engineers. This position is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented engineer passionate about product performance and innovation.Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities: <ul><li>Lead sustaining engineering tasks including engineering change requests (ECR/ECO), drawing updates, and processing documentation.</li><li>Drive VA/VE initiatives to achieve cost savings, material optimization, and performance improvements.</li><li>Support and contribute to New Product Development (NPD) and technology upgrade projects — early concept design through manufacturing release.</li><li>Develop detailed 3D/2D CAD models, GD&amp;T drawings, tolerance stack-ups, BoMs, and related manufacturing documentation.</li><li>Conduct DFMEA, DFM, DFA, prototype validation support, and technical reviews.</li><li>Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Global Design Centers.</li><li>Ensure adherence to global engineering standards, compliance, and configuration management practices</li></ul>Must Have:<ul><li>Expertise in Creo Parametric (solid modelling, detailing, surfacing, GD&amp;T).</li><li>Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes — casting, machining, injection molding, surface coating</li><li>Ability to independently manage design tasks with accountability and milestone ownership.</li></ul>Good to Have:   <ul><li>Understanding of industrial products &amp; various manufacturing processes</li><li>Knowledge of GD&amp;T, DFM &amp; DFMEA and familiarity with Windchill</li><li>Influential interpersonal skills</li><li>Adaptability to work for cross-functional/culture and time zones</li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams and regions.</li></ul>Qualifications: <ul><li>4-Year bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized university</li><li>4 - 6 years’ relevant experience in product design, sustaining engineering, and VA/VE projects</li></ul>Join the global Xylem team to be a part of innovative technology solutions transforming water usage, conservation, and re-use.
