Capable of serving on committees and resolving advanced technical matters.Responsibilities<ul><li>Organize construction and maintenance work and create over all implementation/maintenance plans</li><li>Assist with the installation of portable/mobile substations/transformers or other temporary equipment</li><li>Ability to perform infrared scanning substation equipment  </li><li>Advanced understanding of AC and DC circuit principles</li><li>Demonstrate a complete understanding of company safety rules and work practices</li><li>Demonstrate a complete understanding of Human Performance practices </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to safely lead small jobs and work independent of direct leadership </li><li>Advanced understanding of reading prints and determine how to isolate protection circuits without jeopardizing critical equipment</li><li>Demonstrate the ability to methodically/logically organize substation work activities  </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to operate bucket, digger derrick truck other areal devices </li><li>Ability to respond to minor call outs</li><li>Understands limitations, never assumes, and will STOP to seek help</li><li>Can lead small and low risk maintenance or construction projects </li><li>Basic understanding of power factor, winding resistance, circuit breaker timing, and leakage reactance testing and interpret results</li><li>Clear understanding of regulatory compliance and the importance for accurate data and timely completion of assigned work</li><li>Adheres to Duke policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements (NERC and/or SERC), properly and accurately documents test results with a timely completion </li><li>Basic understanding of substation equipment isolation and clearances and grounding practices</li><li>Demonstrates the ability to complete the requirements for Switching and Tagging on both the Transmission and Distribution systems</li><li>Demonstrates the ability to complete maintenance/construction activities on all substation equipment including but not limited to switches, circuit breakers, transformers, regulators, PT's, CT's, CCVT's and grounding systems </li><li>Basic understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics systems</li><li>Demonstrates advance verbal and written communications skills</li></ul>Basic / Required Qualifications<ul><li>High School diploma/GED</li><li>3 years related work experience</li></ul>Additional Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Advanced understanding of job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance</li><li>Has positive working relationships and can effectively coordinate work activities</li><li>Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally</li><li>Provides lower level of leadership</li><li>Demonstrate the ability to developing leadership skills</li><li>Software skills including word process, email, spreadsheets etc.    </li></ul>Working Conditions<ul><li>Demonstrated availability for after- hour’s work and call out rotation</li><li>Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.</li><li>Ability to work in a diverse environment with individuals from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds</li><li>Must be capable of working on elevated work surfaces</li><li>Field Mobility Classification – Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.​</li></ul><ul></ul>Specific Requirements<ul><li>Must have a valid State Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a CDL Class A Driver’s License.</li><li>This position contains a weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading</li><li>Residency Requirement: Must have a permanent residence forty-five minutes from their base location.
