Location:Leixlip, IrelandJob ID: R0113499Date Posted:2025-12-01Company Name:HITACHI HIGH-TECH IRELAND, LIMITEDProfession (Job Category):Engineering &amp; ScienceJob Schedule: Full timeRemote:NoJob Description:Position SummaryIn this developmental position, the Field Service Engineer I (FSE) is spending much of their time training under close supervision.  The FSE typically receives detailed instructions on all work assignments, acquires job skills, and learns company polices and procedures to perform routine tasks.  The FSE learns the hookup process for specific tools as well as their basic operation.  Continued training programs are given to develop specific instrument skills, knowledge, and service techniques.  The FSE is interfacing with customers and developing relationships with co-workers and managers.Primary Responsibilities<ul><li>Complete assigned On the Job Training (OJT) with the goal of instrument certification {Essential}</li><li>Support customer requests including daily pass down tasks</li><li>Meet availability requirements and improve preventative maintenance efficiency</li><li>Attend to and reports on critical and chronic product issues including escalation activity</li><li>Protect, manage, and maintain company property (i.e., traveling inventory, company care, test equipment, tools, etc.) in accordance with department policy/procedure {Essential}</li><li>Answer service calls and promptly return messages from customers in a manner meeting service department policy/practice expectations {Essential}</li><li>Maintain appropriate records of all work performed and training received {Essential}</li><li>Complete departmental and customer paperwork timely and with high quality {Essential}</li><li>Complete assigned formal training with a grade of 75% or higher on all tests {Essential}</li><li>Comply and adhere to company policies {Essential}</li><li>Portray professionalism and pride in appearance while conforming to policy {Essential}</li><li>Provide a positive attitude to all employees and customers {Essential}</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul><div>EDUCATION, LICENSES, and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS</div><ul><li>Requires a minimum of a Diploma of Science degree in electronics or equivalent</li><li>BS degree in Engineering (or related field) is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience in military or semiconductor industry</li></ul><div>EXPERIENCE and TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS</div><ul><li>Two (2) years’ experience using digital volt meters, oscilloscopes, hand tools, and computers</li><li>Must be eligible for and receive company credit card</li><li>Willingness to relocate and/or travel</li><li>Up to 20% travel (both internationally and domestically)</li></ul><div>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS / SAFETY REQUIREMENTS</div><ul><li>Ability to effectively communicate information to customers and management regarding service activities and schedules</li><li>Ability to follow precise instruction</li><li>Ability to perform selected routine service calls (preventive maintenance and basic emergency service) on one or more models of a product line (measured by instrument certification)</li><li>Ability to install and qualify a system</li><li>Ability to work from schematics using various test equipment, mathematical calculation, and instrumentation</li><li>Knowledge of analog and digital circuitry</li><li>Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics</li><li>Basic knowledge and understanding of physics and chemistry</li><li>Demonstrate strong work ethic</li><li>Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills with people at all level within and outside of the company</li><li>Ability to drive an automobile</li><li>Ability to see small objects within a confined area</li><li>Ability to identify and distinguish color-codes</li><li>Ability to quickly transport from location to location (i.e., air, car, etc.)</li><li>Ability to transport parts and toolbox from car to equipment site</li><li>Ability to lift up to 23 kg</li><li>Hand-eye coordination at a level to support a range of activities from very fine (delicate) to large, leveraged type item</li><li>Ability to hear audible noises</li><li>Must comply with all corporate safety requirements and directives</li><li>Expected to use PPE when required</li><li>Follow all equipment specific safety protocols </li></ul><div>POSITION - SAFETY RISKS AND HAZARDS</div><ul><li>As designated, potential risk depending on equipment being serviced</li></ul>
