In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable movement of goods across our network, reporting directly to the District Manager. As a key member of our operations team, you will take on a diverse range of responsibilities that span both office-based planning and on-site oversight at our facilities, offering a unique blend of strategic coordination and hands-on operational leadership.This position can be based in Edmonton or Airdrie, Alberta.Specific Duties and Responsibilities</div><ul><li>Prioritize Health and Safety by adhering to all organizational safety policies, procedures, and best practices, and consistently maintaining safe work behaviors.</li><li>Oversee daily transportation operations, including route scheduling, shipment tracking, and ensuring timely delivery of goods.</li><li>Ensure full compliance with local, provincial, and federal transportation and safety regulations.</li><li>Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions and safety protocols as needed.</li><li>Monitor and manage transportation budgets and costs to maximize efficiency and reduce overall expenses.</li><li>Supervise, mentor, and support transportation staff, including drivers and logistics team members.</li><li>Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training efforts to build and maintain a skilled and high-performing workforce</li><li>Coordinate with customers, vendors, facilities, and suppliers to address transportation needs and resolve shipment-related issues.</li><li>Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures aimed at improving operational efficiency, safety, and service quality.</li><li>Other duties as required.</li></ul>Experience, Qualifications and Education<ul><li>Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent professional experience.</li><li>Dispatch experience is required.</li><li>Valid Class 5 driver’s license.</li><li>Previous truck driving experience is considered a strong asset.</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities<ul><li>Demonstrated commitment to Health &amp; Safety and a Safety-focused attitude.</li><li>Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members.</li><li>Strong customer relationship management with both internal and external clients.</li><li>A willingness to take direction and work effectively in stressful situations.</li><li>Ability to multitask and adapt to new working environments.</li><li>Experience in managing multiple job tasks and people.</li><li>Proven knowledge of business and management principles, strategic planning and leadership techniques.</li><li>Excellent ability to listen, analyze and adapt to ever changing situations and schedule changes to meet the requirements of GFL customers.</li></ul>  We thank you for your interest.
