We are present on four continents and are headquartered in Oslo, Norway. Main purpose of positionCurrently we are looking for a Project Developer in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Project Developer, you will be responsible for leading the development and structuring of utility-scale renewable energy projects from early opportunity through the development cycle to financial close. Your ability to structure and negotiate complex transactions, lead external and internal development processes, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams is key to successfully lead the project to financial close and start of construction. Main responsibilities<ul> <li>Manage negotiations for project acquisitions and the acquisition/transaction process</li> <li>Support the process to secure equity and debt finance for projects and achieve financial close</li> <li>Manage negotiations with prospective development partners and assume responsibility for external stakeholder relationships</li> <li>Plan and coordinate internal and external project development efforts including securing land, obtaining required local permits and approvals, securing interconnection rights from utilities, negotiating PPAs with utilities, establishing EPC and O&amp;M agreements, as well as securing project equity and debt financing</li> <li>Manage and coordinate the development teams involved in the structuring/financial closing phase, including internal resources, consultants, development partners and external advisors</li> <li>Implement and manage project controls processes: scheduling, cost controls &amp; contract management</li> <li>Effectively communicate project progress to all project stakeholders (internal/external).</li> <li>Identify and develop mitigation strategies for main project risks</li> <li>Undertake market reviews, analysing regulatory developments, issues and policy supports for utility-scale renewable energy projects and contribute to the development of project development strategies for countries or regions</li> <li>Lead bidding processes to submit bid packages in response to Request for Proposals (RFPs) from public utilities and private off-takers </li></ul>Qualifications and competencies<ul> <li>Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Law (Master’s a plus)</li> <li>Experience: 5 - 7 years of professional experience ideally from a renewable energy IPP, investment bank and/or project finance/operations and/or leading global management consulting firms</li> <li>Experience with closing complex transactions, deal structuring and project finance</li> <li>Significant experience with renewable energy project development in emerging markets</li> <li>Understanding of electricity markets and in particular renewable energy </li> <li>Working knowledge and understanding of power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, permitting requirements and EPC contract terms and conditions is preferable, but not required</li> <li>Strong knowledge of business fundamentals and financial analysis</li> <li>Expert level of proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools, including Excel and PowerPoint</li> <li>Language: fluent both written and spoken in English.</li></ul>Personal characteristicsIt is part of every employee’s terms of reference to contribute to Scatec's vision: Improving our Future and adhere to our company values which are:<ul> <li>Predictable: demonstrate clear communication and listening skills, shares information in an open and honest way</li> <li>Driving results: demonstrate determination, pro-activeness, can prioritise and work independently</li> <li>Changemaker: demonstrate entrepreneurship, can challenge, fast learner, take initiates and adjust</li> <li>Working together: demonstrate teamwork, shares responsibilities, can compromise, has a can-do attitude.</li></ul>For the particular role we also expect<ul> <li>Advanced project management skills</li> <li>Strong business/commercial acumen</li> <li>Analytical and problem-solving skills</li> <li>Passion for leadership and skills to develop and coach others</li> <li>Strong feedback and influencing skills to provide direction</li></ul>We offerScatec is an exciting, innovative and ambitious company operating in a growing industry.
