This system is responsible for safely powering the aircraft, charging the batteries, managing high-voltage systems, and providing real-time state-of-charge and state-of-health estimates to the pilot and control system. You will focus on developing, testing, and deploying software for this system. Since this software includes both C++ and model-based elements and must meet stringent safety requirements, your code will be held to high safety and regulatory standards. You will work closely with systems engineering and software teams to ensure robust and reliable performance. You’ll also collaborate with systems engineers and hardware designers to author software requirements and integrate complex systems. You will be involved in all facets of our software design and development.</p><ul> <li>Develop, test, and optimize embedded software for battery management and charging systems.</li> <li>Work with cross-functional teams to define and refine system requirements and operational constraints.</li> <li>Collaborate with Joby’s broader software team to ensure BMS software meets certification standards through rigorous documentation, testing, and compliance verification.</li> <li>Participate in code reviews, debugging, and continuous software improvements.</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related STEM field </li> <li>Proficient knowledge of C++ and real-time operating systems</li> <li>Understanding of modern micro-controller and microprocessor architectures</li> <li>Experience debugging an embedded target</li> <li>Prior experience with Python</li> <li>Experience with git</li> <li>Strong communication and documentation skills</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Familiarity with the following:  <ul>   <li>High voltage systems</li>   <li>Thermal management systems</li>   <li>Linux</li>   <li>Ethernet/UDP</li>  </ul></li></ul><h2>Additional Information</h2><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $93,200 - $154,100/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
