This role combines deep technical expertise with market insight and customer engagement skills, enabling Teledyne to deliver differentiated, high-performance systems that meet the demanding requirements of next-generation missions. The Principal Systems Architect will serve as a strategic interface between engineering, product management, and customers — guiding concept definition, requirements development, technical validation, and business alignment from idea inception through production deployment.What you'll do:The essential functions and key responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>Lead the design, analysis, and definition of system architectures at the integrated circuit (IC), PCB, and subsystem level.</li><li>Apply deep experience in radiation effects on electronics to architect robust systems for space and other harsh environments.</li><li>Define system-level trade studies, partitioning, and performance optimization for advanced mixed-signal, digital, and RF assemblies.</li><li>Ensure designs meet all qualification, reliability, and manufacturability requirements consistent with aerospace-grade standards.</li><li>Drive design-for-reliability and design-for-testability strategies across the product life cycle.</li><li>Lead product definition and strategic product ideation aligned with Teledyne’s technology roadmaps.</li><li>Conduct competitive assessments, market analysis, and pricing strategy development.</li><li>Collaborate with executive leadership to establish business cases and go-to-market strategies.</li><li>Serve as a technical and product ambassador — presenting and promoting solutions to key customers.</li><li>Conduct voice-of-customer (VoC) engagements and define Statements of Work (SoWs).</li><li>Provide technical support and training to customers, sales engineers, and FAEs.</li><li>Partner with engineering and operations to ensure manufacturability and qualification compliance.</li><li>Mentor internal teams in advanced system design and customer communication.</li></ul>What you'll need:<ul><li>Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.</li><li>Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or MBA preferred.</li><li>15+ years of experience in microelectronics, PCB module, or subsystem design for space or defense industries.</li><li>Demonstrated expertise in radiation effects, derating, and mitigation strategies for space applications.</li><li>Experience in product management, technical marketing, and competitive positioning.</li><li>Strong systems thinking with ability to balance performance, cost, and reliability trade-offs.</li><li>Deep understanding of component- and system-level qualification standards.</li><li>Exceptional communication and presentation skills.</li></ul>What we offer:<ul><li>Health, dental, and vision coverage</li><li>Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits</li><li>Retirement savings plan with company match</li><li>Paid time off and holidays</li><li>Opportunities for professional growth and innovation</li><li>A mission-driven culture focused on exploration and sustainability</li></ul>What happens nextApply online and our recruiting team will review your application.
