Position SummaryGFL Environmental operates a hazardous and non-hazardous waste processing facility in Prince George, BC. The Operations Supervisor plays a key leadership role in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations. This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities, optimizing processes, coordinating resources, and supporting a high-performing operations team. The role is critical in maintaining safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence across the site.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Promote and model GFL’s safety culture by leading through action and enforcing all Safety Policies and procedures.</li><li>Participate in the development, revision, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Task Hazard Analyses (THAs).</li><li>Identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards and unsafe conditions.</li><li>Ensure staff are using proper tools, equipment, and PPE safely and effectively.</li><li>Oversee daily facility operations to ensure efficient throughput and production targets are met.</li><li>Monitor operational performance, adjust workflows, and identify opportunities for improvement.</li><li>Collaborate with the Technical Manager to troubleshoot difficult waste streams and support new treatment processes.</li><li>Review waste receipt tickets for accuracy and manage inbound/outbound waste inventory levels.</li><li>Ensure operational compliance with applicable environmental, municipal, and facility regulations.</li><li>Support audits, inspections, and reporting as required.</li><li>Supervise operations staff, providing coaching, training, and performance evaluations.</li><li>Support a positive, safety-focused team environment.</li><li>Oversee equipment reliability, maintenance scheduling, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.</li><li>Ensure equipment is operated safely, properly, and efficiently.</li><li>Other duties as required.</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>High school diploma required; post-secondary education in operations management, engineering, or a mechanical trade preferred.</li><li>Proven experience in a production or operations leadership role required.</li><li>Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract required; Class 1 or 3 drivers license is an asset.</li><li>Strong mechanical aptitude and solid understanding of process operations.</li><li>Flexible availability, with the ability to respond to on-call and emergency situations as needed.</li><li>Proficiency with Google Workspace is an asset.</li><li>Knowledge of chemical handling or basic chemistry is a strong asset.</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities<ul><li>Demonstrated commitment to Health &amp; Safety and a Safety-focused attitude.</li><li>Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members.</li><li>Strong analytical and decision-making skills to improve operational efficiency.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.</li><li>Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.</li><li>Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems independently.</li><li>Proficient with basic computer applications.</li></ul>  We thank you for your interest.
