This role combines advanced technical engineering skills with project management capabilities to deliver an optimal charging stations from concept through construction. As a seasoned project-oriented engineer, you'll manage internal and external engineering resources while providing technical expertise in a deadline-driven environment across a portfolio of simultaneous projects. As part of the broader project deployment team, you'll support the entire project lifecycle from initial technical site evaluation through streamlined permitting and construction management. In this senior role, you'll also drive process improvements, pilot novel site archetypes and technologies, and provide stakeholder management and cross-functional team leadership for programmatic design initiatives. The ideal candidate delivers optimally designed sites that balance constructability, operational safety, regulatory compliance, cost efficiency, and customer experience while maintaining EVgo's high standards for network reliability. </div><div><br><strong>Responsibilities: </strong></div><div><ul><li>Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for engineering and site design during all phases of feasibility, design, and construction of EVgo sites </li><li>Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop and deliver comprehensive engineering deliverables, including conceptual layouts, cost estimates, civil, electrical, and structural design packages, plus any additional site-specific design deliverables </li><li>Produce scope of work and track project deadlines and deliverables from engineering partners (e.g., site surveys, preliminary and permit package engineering). </li><li>Ensure all design activities maintain excellent quality control and full code compliance from initial proposal through detailed engineering </li><li>Execute on standardized design and construction logistics approaches optimizing design and serve as SME for proactive changes and updates to these standards </li><li>Execute standardized design and construction approaches while optimizing for site-specific requirements and construction efficiency, serving as SME for proactive changes and updates to these standards </li><li>Track and report on productivity metrics for work-in-progress to meet business expectations and deliverable commitments </li><li>In coordination with permitting staff, meet with zoning/permitting personnel to understand jurisdictional approval requirements and identify opportunities for timeline reduction </li><li>Represent EVgo as the design subject matter expert at public meetings and track status of all required approvals </li><li>Implement continuous process enhancements based on industry best practices and lessons learned, acknowledging technology and AHJ-specific requirements for different regions </li><li>Ensure projects adhere to internal and external stakeholder standards with appropriate prioritization of requirements </li><li>Provide or facilitate design support to general contractors during all phases of construction </li><li>Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including vendors, contractors, jurisdictions, regulatory agencies, utilities, partners, and internal EVgo teams </li></ul></div><div><div><strong>Qualifications:</strong></div><ul><li>Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience. </li></ul></div><div><strong>Desired Skills:</strong></div><div><ul><li>Background in utilities, renewables (commercial solar, energy storage), or high-voltage engineering preferred </li><li>Working knowledge of electrical design drawings, electrical equipment, power integration and utility design processes </li><li>Advanced knowledge of site development procedures including regulatory and permitting processes </li><li>Proficient in reading, interpreting and redlining zoning and construction drawings </li><li>Strong grasp of construction cost implications with ability to make cost-efficiency recommendations  </li><li>Proven track record managing and delivering multiple simultaneous projects on or ahead of schedule while maintaining highest quality standards </li><li>Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with property owners, local jurisdictions, contractors, and other stakeholders  </li><li>Self-directed professional with ability to work independently, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute innovative ideas to enhance designs, processes, and operational efficiency </li><li>Working knowledge of Salesforce or enterprise CRM systems preferred but not required </li><li>PMP certification or equivalent experience preferred. </li></ul></div><div> </div><div>For job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $120,000.00 USD to  $138,000.00 USD.
